Thank you wholeheartedly for everything you've done for us /u/hadidjahb! You'll always have a special place in our community and our hearts! We will surely miss you but I'm also sure we're all expecting to hear more about future projects and we wish you the best of luck! Take care and stay awesome and sweet!
<3 <3 <3 Thanks Deyan. I'll miss you guys too, I'm gonna try and to a really good job on the new stuff!:)
I always loved seeing Hadidjahs replies to stuff on reddit, super interesting to hear bits of the development behind the special effects in this amazing game
Best of luck to you! <3
Thanks Chuckle! This has always been a really fun forum for me to hang out on, I always appreciated y'all letting me geek out.<3
Hey all - I'll really miss being one of your devs.<3
I'm sorry I haven't been as active on reddit as I was in the past (at the risk of making excuses, this was very much a Me Thing that ties pretty directly into the mental health part, not because of anything on here but simply because I've lost a lot of the energy it took to properly write up the essay responses I like to leave). But I've still lurked for people's suggestions and thoughts even if I wasn't replying. More than anywhere, this has been the community that taught me a ton of things that I've tried to carry forward into how I approached things on Hearthstone, and am taking into this next project as well.
Thank you for all the fun times and feedback - it has nontrivially shaped me as a dev and I think made me a much better one, and I have a lot of happy memories here thanks to y'all.
Sad to see you leave the HS team, i always liked your attitude on blizzard promo videos, not to mention you were always attentive and nice to fans on twitter, and the VFX (moreso around Boomsday) are absolutely amazing, truly a bunch of talented people
Best of luck on your new project Mrs. Chamberlain <3 /u/hadidjahb
Edit PS: Did they let you keep the Warglaives and DH Make up?
Thanks Thin - I really appreciate it.<3
Man Boomsday was a nutsy set cycle, but that's still one of my absolute favorites visually.:)
Haha the Warglaives were borrowed from a woman at Blizzard, but I guess I could always do a homebrew version of the make-up! ...Although I'm not sure which stage of the make-up you're supposed to gouge your eyes out at, I might only be able to do half the make-up.
Too bad, I really liked her recent appearances (such as the Ashes of Outland trailer or the live card back creation stream). But I wish her the best of luck with the new project!
I also wonder if that "another project" is the same project Mike Donais & Peter Whalen left the team for early this year.
Thank you.<3 It's always been so much fun.
It's not Peter's project, VFX usually come later in production, but we talked loads about his game when he was still technically on Hearthstone (he's one of my best friends, we talk a lot haha), and I made him some placeholder FX for his prototype pitch. So I still get to claim one or two fingerprints over there!:)
And here I was waiting for 3D modelling and effects stream after that awesome cardback stream.
Good luck on your future works!
I'm hoping more will still happen! I wouldn't be in them, of course, but everyone at the office was really happy with how the last stream went and the team is full of amazing artists.
Also sorry I didn't reply to your cardback post, but I did see it and it made me so so happy that you enjoyed the stream!:')
Seems likely that this is the project that Mike Donais went to as well. Hopefully we'll see information during this year's virtual BlizzCon, though 2021/2022 seems more realistic.
Best wishes, Hadidjah!
Thank you!:)
It's not Peter's project, haha, fulltime VFX usually come quite a bit later in production.
Very much what u/stonekeep said. The noticeable departures are the ones that happen to be pretty public-facing, but the vast majority of the team isn't, which means the vast majority of the work that goes into the game doesn't really have a face to it. And we backfill, those of us who stay at Blizzard are still around to knowledge-share, stuff like that.
It wouldn't be such a hard thing for me to leave if the people I were leaving behind weren't incredible, and people that I'd really enjoyed working with and respected as devs. So maybe I'm biased, but I think they're gonna keep doing awesome things, and they're working on a lot of rad shit right now.:)
Congrats on the new project!I will miss you so much because you were the reason I followed the Hearthstone scene.
Your art is amazing&your creativity is amazing!
Hopefully we will see your new works soon. :)
/love❤️
Oh jeez... Thanks so much Phoenix, that's... really humbling, damn.<3
I'm gonna try to do a good job on the new stuff!:)
Hadidjah's departure is a huge loss for Team 5. Other than all of the obvious awesome stuff ("the deathiest death"), a couple of years ago she made some changes to help those of us who have some form of colourblindness to enjoy Hearthstone more easily. Thank you Hadidjah, your efforts won't be forgotten.
A grateful fan,
JamieFTW
P.S. I hope you are going to work with Mike and Peter and we get to find out what you're all working on "soon".
God, thank you Jamie.<3
Honestly the colorblind glows are still the single thing I'm happiest I got into Hearthstone, and it's one of those things that I just never would've known about if it weren't for reddit. So double-thanks really, haha.
I'm not moving to Peter's project, VFX usually come later on in production. I did get to help him out a bit with the pitch prototype back in its very early days though, so I've still happily got a fingerprint or two over there.:)
Noooo, the Boomsday trailer is practically my favorite because of her. Thank you so much for your work with the game!
Awww, thank you! It's always been such a surreal privilege getting to work on something so many people enjoy.
(And I'm so glad you liked Boomsday, that one was ridiculously fun. I still have Poultry Peter, he came home from the office with me for quarantine.:))
Thank you for all your work on making the game more colourblind friendly. It's had a significantly positive impact on my experience playing the game!
Four and a half years of VFX and those colourblind changes are easily the one thing I'm happiest to have been able to add to Hearthstone. I'm so so glad it's helped you!<3
Happy tears hopefully. :D You are a big LGBTQ inspiration to me and I have loved seeing the representation in the hearthstone team.
They were happy tears, now they're gay tears.:P
That makes me so happy to hear; seeing and meeting other LGBTQ+ (and women/feminine) people in games was always a huge deal for me, so a big part of why I wanted to make sure I was very open was in case it might make other people feel more comfortable too. There are lots of happily out people on the team (we have a whole squad:D), so there're still lots of people there to rep!<3
As the only developer who ever answered one of my questions, and outside of a expansion promotion period too, I'd just like to say thanks for everything you've given to this forum, and I hope you enjoy working on the new project!
It was always a joy chatting with people here, and I really appreciate how much y'all let me geek out over stuff.:) And thank you!- I'm excited for it.
I’ll really miss those sick legendary animations they did. Hope y’all cast [[Embalming Ritual]] on the VFX team!
<3 They are my good sweet sons, they're gonna keep doing sick legendaries! And their new lead is a guy I really respect and have always kinda wished I could work for because he's such a good mentor, so I think things will just keep getting better.:)
Hadidjah
❤️❤️ Thank you! It's always felt like such a privilege getting to be a part of it.:)
Hadidjah

Hadidjah
Ahhh, thank you! It was always so much fun getting to talk HS and VFX and you guys always let me geek out about it haha.<3
Hadidjah
Not yet, but two years isn't very long to make a whole new game so I wouldn't have expected anything this soon.
I'm familiar with the VFX artist they just hired though and man his stuff is DOPE. I'm excited for whenever they announce.
Hadidjah
