Could claiming Achievements be any more annoying?

Not only you have to click every individual achievement but the page resets itself back to the top as if your reward is a big fat slap across the face so you have to scroll down again to get the next ones or see what's the followup. They can't even load in time as you scroll. It's like they gave this to an intern to implement.

Why does it feel like there was absolutely no thought put into the way achievements are earned? It seems like every time I get an achievement I'm actually disappointed because that means I'm about to lose my next Battlegrounds round. Similarly before revealing any of the cards I've earned in a new pack I'll see achievements indicating if I got a legendary and for which class.

Completely kills the excitement and suspense in both scenarios. Is anyone at Blizzard even talking about these issues? Thanks

I assure you there is 'thought' put into everything. Not sure why it's necessary to to so many people to ask questions in this manner.

In any case, the timing of when the server understands you do something is different than when you visually see it. Specifically for BG the fact you see an achievement pop knowing the game ended is pretty crappy. We are fixing that. There are a lot of edge cases I'm less sure about like whether we should suppress a gameplay achievement until the end of turn or end of game. Knowing exactly when animation timings happen on the client and triggering an achievement on the server is pretty tricky. Opening packs is also something we'll look at. These are less bugs and more just things we couldn't fit in on time but didn't want to delay the whole system because of it. Normally we have what we'd call 'soak time' for these systems where we play with them for a few weeks or months before they release but in this circumstance we felt like what we had was better to push live than to soak it for another couple months and not release until the next expansion. More bugs than we would have liked because of that decision but I am glad it was a call we made.

Not even a 'Claim all' button because Blizzard really want us to look at the achivement names.

hey we had some of our top memers make those names

This didn't seem to be an issue before the latest patch. If the FX feature wasn't ready, why was it merged into the release branch? Did what improvements were added that caused this or was it just missed in testing/QA?

This achievement reload bug has made it annoying to get achievements and claim achievements. I'm the type of person who likes to check all the achievement notifications before doing anything else and having to reload and take multiple seconds to load every time makes me not want to play in fear of having to go into that screen.

This is sort of asking how does any bug get introduced. If we knew there was going to be a bug, why did we release it, etc. Bugs happen. Sometimes due to dev miss, sometimes QA miss, sometimes because of some difference in the testing environment and release environment we didn't account for. Unfortunately in this circumstance the fix requires a client patch so we weren't able to get it in right away.

Reloading is a bug introduced by adding some FX in we didn't end up catching in time for release. It's a client fix and requires a client patch. Considered fixing before holiday but didn't want to risk introducing more issues as the team headed off for holiday. Will be fixed in a future build.

I assure you there is 'thought' put into everything. Not sure why it's necessary to to so many people to ask questions in this manner.

Probably because lately that's the way it feels. Blizzard is build on a reputation of polish and not releasing things until they are done to a particular standard.

When you fail to meet these standards it upsets us players more than it would if it was a different game company.

I personally have been playing blizzard games since the lost Vikings, that's almost 30 years of playing them so I have some experience with them. And at least the last year or so of hearthstone have not been what we consider to be blizzard standard.

So excuse us for expecting more from a company who's games we've loved for so long but it feels like you don't love us or your games any more.

Totally understand. When you want to know why a bug isn't fixed or if it's been recorded simply asking 'why isn't this fixed and do you know about it' is sufficient.

Is this also why some past achievements from before the new system aren’t recognized, but others are? For instance, completing story modes or achieving legend, but not getting the achievement? Or is that separate?

Story mode not getting achievement are bugs, we plan on introducing achievements for completing old adventures at some point and those should be retroactive. We just didn't have time for the initial launch of the system.

Any chance we can get a disenchant all button type thing for claiming these achievements en masse?

Been talking about more convenient ways to claim. Likely it will change in the future, but this isn't as high a priority as getting in older achievements atm. Achievements in general will be something we improve over time.

    You're missing the point.

The big problem is why are these bugs in a released product and why are there so many of them.

You're blizzard damnit, can you please act like it.

Totally understand. When you want to know why a bug isn't fixed or if it's been recorded simply asking 'why isn't this fixed and do you know about it' is sufficient.

You may think that's sufficient but when every release has more bugs and known ones aren't being fixed while new buggier features are released players are going to get more and more frustrated.

And like I said before we expect more from blizzard because you have given almost 30 years of quality experience. So can you please respect your loyal fan base and at least try to live up to the standards you have always given us.

It's actually a pretty big hassle to go back and fix things, hotfix, pull people off their tasks. That's all the motivation necessary. Recently, bugs have stayed in the client longer to give our team a holiday break to hang with their families. Not only has nothing been worked on for a couple weeks, but we were tentative to check anything in just before break so those fixes didn't trigger anything game-breaking that would cause people to have to come back from holiday to fix. That said, there will always be issues that slip through to live and we'll fix them as they come up. If you are looking for a promise that bugs will stop reaching the live client then that is never going to be something any dev can give you. For what it's worth, a lot of these back-end systems are brand new. Brand new systems mean a higher likelihood of bugs because there is a lot of unknown. I remember working on HS after we released Naxxramas and ... wow ... that was a bad time for bugs. Later adventures benefitted from a lot of that pain and I'm sure later achievement, reward, and quest updates will benefit from the bugs that slipped through now.

Hey u/IksarHS, I know you don't come on here very often but seeing as how you've been on here recently and this is specifically about achievements, I was wondering...

I don't have the time or money to grind out to Legend rank. But I have been playing this game for a considerably long time (since beta), and I have greatly enjoyed this game. Have you guys considered making some sort of player flair or cardback for amassing a certain level of achievements? Like 10-15k points or something?

I just feel like I've put a lot into this game over the past 6-7 years and since I haven't gotten through the Ranked grind I sometimes feel like I'm not given recognition or w/e. Does that make sense?

I think it's pretty reasonable to have a card back for some high watermark of achievement points..... I like it :).
