Trying to be the best at something is inherently unhealthy - it requires going above and beyond what is normal or reasonable, doing what others won't. It means spending every possible hour you have gaining each and every advantage to become the best. There is no balance there.

I'm not advocating for or against this lifestyle, if you want work life balance, that's great - but you will never be the best & it's arrogant to think otherwise. Why should someone who plays / studies 6-8 hours a day be better than someone who will spend every waking hour?

Taking breaks makes sense, avoiding burn out makes sense, but again if there's someone out there who can handle the grind in a way that you can't - you simply can't expect to outperform them. We're talking about being the literal best at something, 100+ million play LoL.

@AzaelOfficial I often think about this as it applies to fields outside athletics, where it’s celebrated how much the workers work. If you want to be the best caster in the world or the best game designer does spending every waking moment of your time apply beneficially I’m those fields, too?

@IksarHS In a more creative field it likely doesn't apply in the same way, the fields you mentioned are highly subjective as well which IMO changes things. I still think how hard you work can go a long way but sustainability is more important in a long term career / goal.

@AzaelOfficial I think it still mostly applies, even to creatives. Behind every great creative idea hides thousands of hours of work :p.
