Just wrote a 13-tweet long thread about how idea brainstorming and games business are difficult topics to discuss with the community. Then deleted it. Turns out that those are, in fact, pretty difficult topics for me to find the right words to write about.

TLDR THREAD 1: Raw ideas, even great ones, have flaws. I haven't figured out a way to have an early idea discussion online without that discussion being centered completely around reasons why the idea shouldn't exist.

2: Game companies want to make money. We want to do that by selling you products you want to buy, not by burning reputation for short-term revenue gain. It would be good for everyone to have that discourse without having it devolve into evil corp vs consumer.

@IksarHS You're not alone! The most revered devs seem to fail at delivering their visions to the target audience - just look at Chris Wilson right now. And it's not even about money. They just don't accept change. They don't see the recent changes as raw ideas needed to improve PoE2.

@tharid I don't know the situation, but this type of commentary is exactly what I mean. Whatever the vision was is probably delivering on some goals and missing on others. If the goals it missed on were goals that were important to you, players fall back on 'it must be dev arrogance'.

@IksarHS @tharid You have literally stated that your goals include killing Control decks and slow games. Its not a case of "missing goals". Your goals are actively harmful. You like a single style of play in hearthstone, and have decided the players who have other styles no longer matter.

@NoseRunescape @IksarHS @tharid Could you point me to where that was literally stated?

@Celestalon @IksarHS @tharid Alongside another tweet about wanting games to end before turn 10, and a reddit comment saying along the lines of "Defensive decks have their place, and that place is a sub %40 win rate". Then he complains on twitter about people "not seeing his vision"??? https://t.co/pTfVdgZniW

@NoseRunescape @IksarHS @tharid Hmmmm... I could be off on this, but I *think* the things on the left are a little different from the things on the right. It's easy to misread things as playing into the things you already believe, when really they don't, and may even be saying the opposite.
