We have some significant improvements to @wildrift matchmaking coming over the next couple of patches, so I thought I'd note some of them down here for folks.

For Normals matchmaking in 2.4, we did an accuracy improvement pass on our backend skill system that significantly improves skill detection.

The change gives the matchmaker better information so when possible, players will be closer in actual skill, matches will be more fair, and unusual streaks more rare. We will be monitoring performance in 2.4 to inform when to apply the change to Ranked.

Secondly, we are trying to guarantee that every player can find a match in a reasonable amount of time. On average, our data shows most players finding matches very quickly. However, we do see edge cases where players wait longer than we feel acceptable and sometimes time out.

For 2.4, we are doing a tuning pass to our matchmaking configuration that should improve edge case wait times significantly.

Even better, for 2.5, we are working on a system that looks at the real time population and dynamically provides frequent updates to the matchmaking configuration several times an hour, instead of us needing to manually tune it.

The new matchmaking system will aim to guarantee every player finds a match within a reasonable amount of time, and well within the 20-minute timeout period. We are hoping to get it closer to 5 minutes tops.

@joshua_menke what is the approach? After X time do you just increase the band significantly or do players that have waited X time just get a very high priority? Something else?
