Weekend gaming summary: we said we were happy clearing Invisible Inc, we should try something new. Played one session of Dreamscaper, then spent the rest of the time playing a new run of Invisible Inc on Expert+.

Dreamscaper--not design analysis, just sort of personal reaction, I did the "okay I see what this is [and then I didn't play another session]." I sometimes feel bad because the totally subjective "I don't know, I didn't feel like doing this more" totally controls what I play.

I guess it puts metaprogression pretty front and center, which is not my favorite. And after 3-4 runs and killing the first boss a few times, I sort of felt: I guess I could do that more times and try to either learn act 2 or level up some stuff, but meh.

Unsatisfying, you could say the same of Hades. Real answer is a mix of: --A lot of subtle things that Hades does are only more impressive after seeing someone try to emulate it --I was fighting my brain's tendency to only play the game I'm fixated on (II). It never stood a chance

@HamletEJ I stuck with Dreamscaper long enough (25hr) to beat the final boss once. I love the meta progression stuff. I think my biggest complaint is their enemy character design isn't great for gameplay. Many of the enemies look extremely similar, with very different abilities.
