I wonder how Hearthstone would be if you could trade & sell everything in your collection on a marketplace and convert dust/gold back to $ imagine trading Hearthstone cards for a living

@solemhs I've thought about this in great detail, but a lot of problems to solve. One step I think is necessary: Only allow cards to be sold for $ if they were obtained via $ purchase.

@solemhs Second step: Stop selling cards of a given expansion for $ after X time. Players can still always craft those cards for dust, but can never purchase the packs again. Meaning there are no more sellable versions of a card after X time.

@solemhs Third step: Create cosmetic card variants only available from real $ purchase. Or mark the cards in some way so that they feel special. You can imagine opening a first edition Dr. Boom or a Dr. Boom 51/9920. Or a galactic Dr. Boom with a special frame.

@solemhs Then I think at that point, the real money versions have some unique value that sets them apart from the normal craftable versions. They likely increase in value over time as collectible limited quantity items, which is cool for collectors.

@solemhs For free players, they don't have their own economies affected because they can still buy those packs or cards with gold or craft them with dust for a fair in-game price.

@solemhs For paid players, every purchase you make could potentially give you an item that increasing in value over the long-term. There are tons of flaws with this idea I won't get into, but an interesting conversation.

@IksarHS @solemhs Hate to butt in, but have you ever considered improving the dust rate for cards? My experience tends to be buying the preorder, then immediately dusting the vast majority of the cool stuff I open. Doesn't feel great getting one epic out of a legendary etc

@rattleclaws @solemhs I don't think we're likely to do this. If the goal is that you want more stuff that appeals to you for the same $ you pay now, I'd rather solve that by having better rewards systems.

@rattleclaws @solemhs Further motivating players to destroy their cards for a % value isn't something that is appealing.

@IksarHS @solemhs How many shares of blizz-activision did you have when the saudi prince invested dean?
