@HSPersia I mean this is a reckoning in duels - they've nerfed all the good deck archetypes... Part of the fun was occasionally getting an overpowered deck if your lucky... now its just annoying... Feels like arena...
@Hearth_Vader Mh, i see your point but I disagree. They removed the overwhelming and polarizing treasures. Having them in your deck was cool and all, but facing someone with one of them was so frustrating and unfun.
They toned down a bit the power level of the mode and I think this is good
@HSPersia That's what I'm concerned about - I wanted them to tone up the power levels of others, not bring down the the really fun ones... I mean lets see - it might work out... But what I love about duels is being overpowered!
@Hearth_Vader I do agree with the fact that Duels should be crazy, however, there's a big "But". This "craziness" can many problems, ESPECIALLY since we have a Synergistic Passive System.
1/2
@Hearth_Vader For example, there's the risk to transform the game mode into a Ladder, which is a thing that we saw with the "Battlecry Meta against Oops All Spells - Decks).
@Hearth_Vader I think that idealistically, Duels is meant to be a place where things can become broken (OP), but in the same time, it has to find the sweet spot between "brokeness" and some sort of balance.
@Tabayrak maybe you can shed some light on your vision of the mode
@HSPersia @Hearth_Vader Well this patch was really just to dampen the most unenjoyable play experiences. Duels as a mode has been no stranger to buffs in the past and in the future there will be more changes- mainly around mana cheating and free value. However there will be other adjustments as well.
@Tabayrak @HSPersia @Hearth_Vader I categorically disagree with the notion of bumping up stuff to match the highest power level. Power creep is a natural thing in card games, where we ultimately arrive at a state where who goes first wins because everyone otks turn 1 (as a hypothetical extreme) 1/?
@Tabayrak @HSPersia @Hearth_Vader If we keep buffing things to match the outliers, we accelerate this process towards a state of the game that is ultimately no longer a game, but a coin toss of who goes first. steps in that direction make the game more similar to that - where player agency matters less. 2/?
