@Celestalon @PersiaAndre @Joshosss @ben_heathstone Hypothetically, when the core set rotates, and the core set secrets get replaced with new ones, will those be improved as well? For example, if Explosive Trap was removed and replaced with Wondering Monster, would we get an improved WM?
@RegisKillbin @HS_Orange @ben_heathstone @Joshosss Right. Think of it like buffing a minion, then transforming it. Hero power modifications would be lost in the swap to the new hero power.
@i_Charizard @Joshosss @ben_heathstone So when we're considering making cards like this, that require special work/interactions with a significant number of other cards, one of the big questions is how much design/art/implementation/etc. is required, and also whether that's "forever" work or not.
@i_Charizard @Joshosss @ben_heathstone Forever work meaning having to keep doing work for this for the rest of Hearthstone's (long) lifespan.
For example, making an Improved version of every secret we've ever released, and every future secret we make, would be a ridiculous amount of work.
@i_Charizard @Joshosss @ben_heathstone If that were the only option, we'd basically never make this sort of card; the cost would make it infeasible.
Instead, the middleground we've landed on for many such cards is to do that work just for Standard cards, and future cards while it's Standard.
@i_Charizard @Joshosss @ben_heathstone That gives us 90% of the benefit, for 10% of the cost, making it feasible to do this sort of card. It still works in Wild (and is in fact better/stronger this way anyway). I can understand the disappointment of the unfulfilled dream, but we're confident that it's for the best.
