Designers, I implore you to be paying special attention to mobile games right now. Both the game design and marketing sides have a lot of innovations that will slip by if you're not looking. It'll also help you to be informed if you have contentious publisher conversations:

@MorelloNMST Feels like the whole industry is moving to F2P live-service. Anyone who already works in that space knows how important monetization can be to the long-term enjoyability of your game. Also almost everyone has gone through some growing pains to come to that realization :P

@MorelloNMST Designer: I am a designer, I care not for your greedy capitalism! PM: Ok, great. We'll take over on this then. *many months later* Designer: Wait no, not like that!

@IksarHS @MorelloNMST Be careful or us global insights folks will gladly run that stuff 8) But really, the best solutions for both business and playerbase are a partnership between the two... business-minded folks who love games paired with game devs who are open to learning monetization practices

@CaptainPlanetOW @MorelloNMST I think that is the second best solution. Designers in games that require monetization integration shouldn't aspire to work with great PMs, they should aspire to be great PMs.

@CaptainPlanetOW @MorelloNMST I generally dislike when these are separate groups with separate orgs. It's nice to hope for the best in that everyone will work towards one common goal (a great feature!), but in a lot of cases it's wishful thinking.

@CaptainPlanetOW @MorelloNMST When someone is on the hook to make money and a different person is on the hook to make a fun thing, easy for that to end up in a space where neither group wants to budge.

@CaptainPlanetOW @MorelloNMST The dream is that GI (or PM) is so integrated they can be trusted to lead all aspects of a feature. That design is so integrated with business groups that they can be trusted to meet monetary goals.
