all the giveaways you're seeing for HS right now. Other events might include an appearance in a sponsored gaming event, getting a video on the launcher, or even getting raided by a large streamer. How you handle "event spikes" can greatly impact the success of your channel ...

So what do you do? If it's something as simple as codes, FOLLOW THROUGH (prev tip on this). Don't ask everyone to follow your twitter/youtube if you are not going to post content. That's misleading. Dedicate yourself to a schedule. Google: Content Calendar. Only commit ...

to a schedule you can actually maintain. How about a sponsored event? Sponsored events (tourneys, theorycrafting, etc) are on a calendar and you're notified ahead of time. Take the time to improve your branding, update overlays, practice a 30sec "welcome to stream" to say ...

every 30min to new viewers. Then, FOLLOW UP with content after. Make content from that content (yt, social post, tiktok, etc). Use that content to build up your stream. Then use it again to promote the next EVENT SPIKE if you get another one. "Remember this" posts are hype ...

How about a big raid? THANK new viewers every 10-15min. This is not overkill. Sometimes viewers are "sleepers" and are afk or something else. You never know when they'll pop back in. Promote your other channels. Not "follow me here", but "hey I make yt vids too" ...

This is extra important advice if you're a competitive player and get regular boosts because of tourney invites. Knowing how to ride off a big event and use it to propel content growth is a valuable skill. Use your socials...talk about it! (cont)

Anyway, start of a new expansion is prime time to be inspired to create. There is so much opportunity. Feel free to ask me questions regarding "event spikes" on this thread and I'll do my best to get to them all.

@alkali_layke I feel like a start of an expansion is always the worst time for "smaller" streamers. All the big streamers come back and people seem to watch less/lurk more because they are playing themselves.

@ixxdeee It's the BEST time. Here's why...smaller streamer's need to "ramp up" anyway. Imagine not ramping up your stream and then getting to the stale point of the meta and trying to feel inspired.

@alkali_layke @ixxdeee Sorry I don't get this. Could you expand more on this? How does the reveal time help streamer ramp up? Just easier making content? It seems to me when the competition is harder convincing people to join your newer stream is just really hard.

@MinderRoots @ixxdeee Sure. Happy to expand. One of the biggest blocks for content creators (besides motivation) is "What do I create?" Starting at a time when there is a clear defined path of: new expac hype, deck building, learning meta, meta shifts, post hot fix, etc answers that question.

@MinderRoots @ixxdeee Also, I don't want to assume that a content creator is not diversified. Having a large amount of content is the perfect moment to stream AND build your youtube or other platform.

@alkali_layke @MinderRoots @ixxdeee In my experience the best time for twitch growth for small/medium creators is a couple of days to a week after a big release, basically when the big creators get exhausted from streaming 8-12hour days.

@alkali_layke @MinderRoots @ixxdeee And probably the other way for YouTube and non-twitch platforms because the small/medium creators can put more time in making interesting stuff when big content gets released.

@G2Rdu @MinderRoots @ixxdeee I see your point, I'm just saying that a lot of time small content creators need to "feel inspired" and the launch of something new is great for that. Especially since I encourage creators to also make YT content.

@ixxdeee @alkali_layke Seconding this in terms of numbers. Every time there's a new expansion, you hit 'maximum streamer overload'. There's only a finite amount of viewers and they can only watch so many streamers at a time, so the smaller streamers almost always end up with lower viewership numbers.

@smellyheadz @ixxdeee Okay guys, remember it's not always about the #s when I'm talking about ramping up. It's also developing confidence, learning how to speak to chat, learning to edit, figuring out your niche. Those things are great to do while #s are still small. :)
