Who are all these people that pre-order games? Do young people do this for some reason I don’t understand and I’m just old? Why don’t you just buy it when it comes out?

I totally understand the games that offer added value for pre-ordering, but just not the games that don’t. And there are millions of pre orders for games that offer no additional pre-order value.

@IksarHS If I see something that seems cool, but not cool enough that I am going to follow it every step of the way, I often preorder, because the cost is small, and I’m likely to forget I wanted to check it out if I don’t, I’m that old.

@IksarHS Often times pre-orders are done to show the company how much excitement there is for a title. It tells the company that the fanbase is strong/excited for the content. Take Diablo 2R for example. SO MANY PRE-ORDERS! Obviously it'd sell.. but people did it and Blizzard was happy.

@KerleeLogan As a industry employee, preorders are clearly great for a company. Help you project player counts ahead of launch and lock players in early to a thing. The consumer benefit when there is no pre order ‘bonus’ seems absent to me.
