Have spent years showing marketing people this image to try to convince them to start branding their content updates something more inspired than "season 15" All players hear when they see a number like that is "I have missed out on 14 seasons and will never catch up." https://t.co/fuuTSH3Llj

@RKRigney Yup. We (continue to) try to get people to not say "Set 6"....but its a tough pattern to break

@Mortdog @RKRigney Funny, was having this exact conversation today about what to do with BG. I personally like having both, but most core players referring to the number. Easier for people to talk about, remember, reference historical information, and understand what they've missed.

@Mortdog @RKRigney I think names are great for release, easier to get people excited about a theme and expectations for that theme. Totally agree on marketing end. Still think there is a lot of upside for using an easier to understand convention for engaged player conversations.

@Mortdog @RKRigney I also don't really believe in the idea that using a number is worse for players who are worried they've missed out on too much. I find that it's actually better. Players that are worried about what they've missed out on will seek out that info regardless of name of number.

@Mortdog @RKRigney Number gives a lot of clarity to search what things were recent. For returning players you can immediately understand how much you've missed without having to find a wiki page release schedule.

@IksarHS @Mortdog Agree with a lot of your points including that numbers aren't necessarily bad for your current players. But I do think they can be off-putting for your *potential* players.

@RKRigney @Mortdog Yeah, definitely. Which is why I actually love what TFT does. Gizmos and Gadgets is absolutely how it's promoted. Sets expectations for what it is, gets me hype, differentiates from old content. Just once I'm an engaged TFT player its Set 6.

@Mortdog @RKRigney Time to take the Battlefield/Resident Evil approach and use numbers that don't go in order! Set 7, Set IX, Set 2077, Set 0. Best of both worlds, clearly.
