@kchironis I was thinking about Elden Ring release and wondered if you ever got through Bloodborne... Was there any moment where you learned to love it? Is there hope for me to enjoy one of these games at some point?!

@IksarHS i'm working my way through it really slowly - only 3 bosses in. i've admittedly been playing a lot more league and warframe lately but was hoping to get back into it this weekend. i do love it, but it's hard. i treat it like taking a course, learning a new kind of material.

@IksarHS how far did you make it in BB?

@kchironis I killed one boss. I think it was 'cleric beast'. This was after probably 20-30 attempts to get to it and 2-3 of trying to kill it. I think I started the trek to the next boss and realized I didn't really want to go through that process again.

@kchironis I got further in the PS5 version of Demon's Souls, I think mostly because I thought it was so beautiful and exactly my vibe that I forced my way through it. Eventually I quit that one as well, but still unreasonably excited for Elden and I can't explain why. Gothic worlds get me.

@IksarHS makes sense - i took a break after the CB fight too. something that helped me was, frankly, looking at maps online, i don't find it interesting to wander the really convoluted samey-looking dark spaces and am happy to use a map to focus on finding and opening shortcuts

@IksarHS might be worth thinking about *why* it's unpleasant to do the wandering part and see if there's any outside resource that can help?

@kchironis Yeah, I honestly should do this more. I have a weird mental block on asking for help in 'hard' games because it feels like somehow I'm not experiencing what I was mean to. I wonder if most souls enjoyers heavily use online resource.

@IksarHS @kchironis Something I've grown to appreciate is playing games the way is most fun for me (as long as it doesn't negatively impact others), not stubbornly sticking to what I think is the intended way like I used to.

@IksarHS @kchironis Even though I play most games on "hard" difficulty, I switched to easy for MassEffect Remaster, because I recognized that I liked the story way more than the combat.

@IksarHS @kchironis Lost Ark has hidden collectibles strewn about each zone... except they're so hidden the only way to find most of them is to mash your face into every wall on every zone, watching for an interact button to pop up, which kills my flow/speed. So I use a map.
