      Day 1 Elden Ring: Made a Confessor (omg they look AWESOME) and an Astrologer. Definitely intrigued by the story/world, even if everything seems very similar to other DS games. I'm a DS newb but if this game was just called 'Dark Souls 4' I wouldn't have thought to question it.

        Dodging seems a lot less risky than blocking, without much real upside (again, I'm a newb). I don't love that because it just means I'm rolling around all the time rather than engaging in something I'd consider interesting combat.

          Spellcasting seems OP but I imagine it falls off. So far, Astrologer is so much easier than melee Confessor but I'm sure I'll run into stuff eventually that my pewpew spells are weak against, just haven't yet in a whole 2 hours of gameplay.

            I was excited for the map, it looked beautiful in gameplay videos. I was disappointed you have to find 'map fragments' to unlock it. I wasn't planning on looking up many guides but I feel sort of forced to now because I don't want to accidentally miss a map fragment.

              I wish there was a more rewarding and intuitive way to unlock portions of the map. The fact I have to look in every nook and cranny to uncover something so basic kind of sucks (to me).

                I respect the effort to avoid very 'gamey' mechanics like quest logs and objective markers, I still wish there was a way to unlock portions of the map that wasn't 'hope you run into them!'. Admittedly, I've played 2 hours and maybe there is a good reason for this, time will tell.

                  Difficulty not so bad so far. No bosses, just whacking enemies. I like that I can 'farm' a bit. As a new player, just getting used to the combat and feeling rewarded by using those souls (or whatever they are called) to level up is fun.

                    Will probably continue on Astrologer because combat isn't very engaging to me but the world is awesome. Excited to see what spells I can learn and places I can go. Sad to lose the confessor 'look' (god, it's so cool) but spellcaster probably more fun for me.

                        @IksarHS Did you not die are 2 hours? That's impressive. I made the mistake of attacking the first friendly guy when you step outside just to see if I could. Did you skip the first horse man?

                        @IksarHS I started an Astrologer as well. Totally good till first castle boss Margit. I have died 40 times and haven’t even gotten him to half health yet.

                  @IksarHS no need to go hunting! they are the only markings on sections of the map you haven’t unlocked yet, so just boost on over to those icons first if that’s what you’re into (i just realized this myself on entering an unexplored area) https://t.co/kpOHMm764L

                    @WaltCodes hmm, not sure I understand when you say 'they' are the only markings, does 'they' mean the map fragments?

                          @IksarHS those icons are (i think) all you can see before you have the fragment, which is what made me prioritize checking it out i a new zone. and it is indeed the map fragment. the icon seems to be that tablet/gravestone lookin object that has the map at the vast

                              @WaltCodes NOTED this is more cool I think I still wish it wasn't a looted item and maybe like I clear the camp and get a celebration moment where the map unlocks for doing it. Probably too game-y for this type of immersive game, but just something apart from look around on the ground.
