some hearthstone stuff i'd like to spend design time on: social - 2v2, 1v1v1v1, duo bgs, 4v4 bgs, guilds, guild v guild formats - current year format, rotating sets format, multi-deck (bo3, bo5) self expression - avatar creation, profile, out-of-game space customization

@IksarHS This all sounds amazing to me, I'm just wondering if the current game code/client is a major restriction in this possibly happening?

@ZeddyHS depends on your vision for these things, pretty unlikely to get an animal-crossing-like avatar and out-of-game island space to customize but could we make... a 2d picrew avatar creator? let you do some styling on your hearthstone box? probably

social challenges: We'd like to make game modes that don't require additional content upkeep and use existing sets. This way, we free ourselves to make more things on the list.

For 2v2, want to find a way that it's not just the better player dictating actions for the team. For all >2 player game modes, have to find a mobile UI solution, this might mean going down from 7 minion slots. I think we could do 4-5 and core gameplay would remain intact.

For guilds, we can't just create an in-game discord for people to chat. Need to find ways for groups to progress together, help each other, mostly asynchronously.

format challenges: none of our formats have a 'fresh' moment where you don't need to own old stuff or learn old stuff, would like to create a format that has a yearly (or more frequent?) reset moment

'rotating sets' is easy to build, I still worry the audience is limited. it's for a deckbuilding audience that owns a bunch of old cards or is compelled to buy old cards. We'll probably try it regardless, but need to spend some time thinking about how to make it approachable

for multi-deck, there are a few paths we could do single opponent, it would feel like a series, you ban their classes, understand what is coming, but the match takes an hour + we could do multi-opponent, is no longer your lineup vs theirs but you can still do 1-game at a time

self expression challenges: we have methods of customization now, though I still feel like we lack things that make someone feel unique. I'd love if you could recognize someone you played against a day or two ago even if you didn't remember their btag

@IksarHS some hearthstone stuff we will literally never see: social - 2v2, 1v1v1v1, duo bgs, 4v4 bgs, guilds, guild v guild formats - current year format, rotating sets format, multi-deck (bo3, bo5) self expression - avatar creation, profile, out-of-game space customization
