@chhopsky @TheSugarVenom Everybody's going crazy about this today and I'm like its cool? Its been done before, and much more complex things. The physics aren't even that complex, just the IK... IDK people like escalators I guess 😄

@DevSpacePrez @chhopsky @TheSugarVenom Just curious, where have you seen this level before? Animations and IK syncing up well on a bunch of moving platforms like that? Different setups for up and down, running or not, etc. We're just recently in the last couple years getting foot placement IK in the industry, afaik

@ChadJessup @chhopsky @TheSugarVenom Well that's part of what I was even asking about, what's the impressive part, the physics or the IK. I'm not sure if the IK has been done to this level on a moving platform, but to me that's a pretty simple combination. I'd have to go looking for examples. But...

@ChadJessup @chhopsky @TheSugarVenom That level of foot IK and even more accurate has been done for a few years now, and full on moving platforms have even involved it in the past, which this really isn't even when you think about it. Its more of a single lane with some regular offsets. I don't know...

@ChadJessup @chhopsky @TheSugarVenom How their implementation works, but you could build a stair-specific / escalator specific model that wouldn't necessarily be able to solve arbitrary platforms moving at any direction or size, which makes it easier. But that said, other games DO do that.

@ChadJessup @chhopsky @TheSugarVenom Well, again it depends upon what the THAT that is, which is again what I'm trying to drill into, lmao. I don't know of any games that support two feet on two moving platforms, but this doesn't need to fully be able to solve that to handle escalators is the thing.

@ChadJessup @chhopsky @TheSugarVenom Although this being from a game from 2019, that does change things a bit. Interesting that its just now getting talked about.

@DevSpacePrez @ChadJessup @TheSugarVenom ive never worked on anything that locomoted that good, or where doing it that well was ever even on the table for consideration

@chhopsky @DevSpacePrez @ChadJessup @TheSugarVenom Yeah, I'm definitely in the "holy fuck" camp here.
