I'm the kind of player who always wants to hop online to help other people doing things, but while i'm in queue for 2 hours I also can't do that. It's a bummer.

Wrath of the Lich King has its fucking claws in me for real though. Neither vanilla classic nor TBC hooked me, but Wrath has me hook, line, and sinker. It's not just nostalgia, either - ways that the game was made are just so interesting and deep, it keeps me focused forever.

@JeffAHamilton Yeah, game design-wise, I feel like WotLK was a big leap forward.

@Celestalon @JeffAHamilton For me wrath probably was the most narrative driven where antagonist was constantly in front of you…but for some reason after that blizzard stepped away from doing that thinking that was actually a bad thing.. they massively toned it down with deathwing in cata and beyond.

@Celestalon @JeffAHamilton the actual quest design, not so much. “go to area and do 1 thing and come back” “now go to that area again and 1 one thing” “now go to that area again and do a third thing” “now go to taht area agin and do a 4th thing” “ok, last time I promise, go back to that area again”

@MysticalOS @JeffAHamilton Yeah, hard agree with that (along with unnecessary vehicle quests EVERYWHERE). But so many systems like professions, dungeons, class design, Dalaran, dailies, world detail... All just so good.

@Celestalon @MysticalOS I honestly think there's something good about old questing that didn't always give you 10 things to efficiently do and turn in at once. Yeah it could feel repetitive, but leveling my DK through Zangarmarsh right now and I feel like I really get to know the area quite well.

@JeffAHamilton @MysticalOS I think in that regard (going back and forth to the same area repeatedly), Outland struck a good balance (2 trips commonly, occasionally 3). WotLK has quite a lot of 3, 4, even 5 trips back and forth.

@JeffAHamilton @MysticalOS I think the most notable difference with WotLK quests is that they seemed to try *really* hard not to just do the same old same old "kill X mobs" "loot X items off mobs". The vast majority of quests are variants/unique somehow. Plant banners, groundloot, use item on mobs, etc.
