While not part of a particular deck archetype, we wanted to make a big defensive spell that could just save you in a pinch, especially through Discover or random generation. It’s important to have cards like this to ‘hope for’, to get you out of tricky situations. #BehindTheCards https://t.co/LjYdSCCS5t

@Celestalon Was there any discussion about how this fit into mage's theme, especially being one of only 2 Taunt Mage cards? Taunt in Mage always seemed like one of those things that was off limits from a design perspective. Much like taunt in Rogue.

@coolboypai Yeah, Taunt isn't something you see in Mage much, but for 8 mana, you really want something that has an immediate board impact, so we let it push outside their normal range a bit.

@Celestalon @coolboypai in isolation, Taunt in Mage is a no-go. BUT with this card Mage is using a spell to summon some Arcane Golems who protect then AND are spell-warding. The whole bundle still feels fairly mage-y despite the Taunt!

@Celestalon I'm curious, as the mechanic comes back on a regular basis, why did you never decide to use a specific keyword for "can't be targeted by spells and hero powers" ?

@Revo405 We internally refer to this effect as Evasive, and have considered keywording it. But there are several reasons that it's not worth keywording: First, keywording is permanent. This expansion was a fluke with 3 cards using it, but 1 or 0 is still expected in most expansions.

@Revo405 Second, it would save a bunch of text space, but there's nothing we want to use that text space on. We have no problem fitting what we want to on those cards. Finally, there are no other upsides like synergy effects we want to do ("Give an Evasive minion +4/+4."), or ...

@Revo405 ...cases where it's easier to understand as a keyword. So, all in all, keywording comes with a small downside (players have to learn what it means), and Evasive's upside is near-zero, so it's not worth it.
