      How will a casual PT-BR player know that this card is not a battlecry, but a deathrattle? I've seen quite a few times people being fooled by this mistranslation. Mistakes aren't to be crucified, but to be kept this long? It's a disrespect to the playerbase. 2/3

        And this is not an isolated case. This also happened a LOT in Castle Nathria, specially at launch. I translated the issue to english so it's more visible, but look at what they translated Reveler's text to portuguese at launch. It's laughably bad. 3/? https://t.co/wFOiX5I2PD

        @Busy_Peon @machadogps This is actually a fascinating error that is really easy to make, although it should also be fairly simple to avoid. Let me tell you about the tools translators work with! 1/x

          @Busy_Peon @machadogps Text strings are translated using a translation memory system. The tool scans a database of existing translations for matches and then shows the translator a suggestion, match percentage, and where the new text differs from the one in the database. 2/x

            @Busy_Peon @machadogps So, when there is an effect that is worded similarly to something used as a Battlecry before, the TM pulls that string and suggests that to the translator. Yes, it marks that now this is a Deathrattle, not a Battlecry. 3/x

              @Busy_Peon @machadogps However, if you're in a hurry or just a little bored (surely no one ever is at work!) it can be easy to miss the match rate and the difference and just click on accept and move on to the next string. 4/x

                @Busy_Peon @machadogps Some companies complement their TM systems with term banks that store and check for crucial terminology. Hearthstone would be a great fit for this, as we have specific keywords. However, many companies don't care as it costs money to maintain terminology. And here we are. 5/5

                  @Old_GuardianHS @machadogps I appreciate the lesson. I guess I just assumed that a company like Blizzard would have more foresight, especially for Hearthstone, since the text is so important to playing the game. 🤷‍♂️

                    @Busy_Peon @Old_GuardianHS @machadogps It's also a matter of volume. When we're making 300 cards, in 17 languages (or whatever it is), even a 99.95% accuracy means there's a mistake like this that slips through. MotLK is the largest expansion we've ever done, by a *large* margin, and it stretched us a lot.

                      @Celestalon @Busy_Peon @Old_GuardianHS @machadogps Isn't there a place where we could share those errors? Because in the italian translation, both Concotion and the old Poison cards have been translated with the same word "Mistura" so players got confused because of course new concotions don't interact with cards like Shank.
