With this, the Influencer Market is rapidly changing. The anything goes meta of 10 yrs ago moved on to the "partnered" meta of 5 yrs ago and NOW we're rapidly moving into a regulated/standardization (and unionization??) of Influencer marketing. Authenticity issue still exists. https://t.co/711AM1SEfl

If I were to bet, I think we're going to see Influencers start banding together more & forming groups. (not talking about agencies) Things that still need fixed: FAIR PAY, proper taxing, proper contracts (legal), Influencer vetting, payment consideration for platform overlap etc

The other dilemma from a business perspective: in a world saturated with influencer marketing, how does one maintain authenticity? Proper influencer vetting and matchmaking is important. Influencer knowledge of the brand/product will be even more important. It should feel genuine

@alkali_layke This seems like the end of the line. Influencers were more trusted because they were providing honest reviews of products. It's hard to trust influencer marketing now that they're just paid spokespeople again. Might as well go back to hiring tv/movie celebrities

@TheWizardGrimm I don't think this is true. First of all, Influencers were never providing honest opinions as a whole. Some people are just better actors and take that check (good for them). We'll never go back to the way it was just forward and it's better this way imo. 1/2

@TheWizardGrimm This is because the staying power of Celebrities is higher. Influencers come and go much faster with the trends. In some ways it's easier to find authenticity because your pool is so large.

@alkali_layke I agree that regulation is good, and transparency in association is good. But I do think, to your point about authenticity, the power of influencers will diminish -- or at least plateau despite more investment from brands. Reach of new audiences is powerful, regardless.

@TheWizardGrimm Someone new will always pop up that is wholesome &genuine. Companies will flock to them. People who aren't trying to be influencers are becoming the influencers that companies want But yes, the HUGE influencers will lose some authenticity but the pool is too big for it to matter

@TheWizardGrimm Lol...Twitter sucks for explaining. By authenticity I mean on both sides, that of the brand & the influencer. The big influencers I don't think will be as sought after. They do too much (losing that authenticity some). The overnight Influencers will be high $ and fought over

@alkali_layke What do you mean? We can have very detailed and nuanced conversations on Twitter. The platform specifically provides you with just enough characters in your tweet to convey exactly the point you want to make and leaving no room for misunderstanding. I guess I just operate behind
