Now I try to play again after not playing in months, and there's no controller recognition. I realize I probably still have InputMapper installed, even though I don't use that controller anymore (it broke), and use a windows-integrated XBOne Elite2 Controller.

InputMapper doesn't show up in Add/Remove Programs, but files are in Program Files. Try installing and uninstalling latest InputMapper, and deleting files from Program Files. Still no joy, multiple restarts later. I suspect that Apex is still looking for that old controller.

Controller works fine, fully recognized by Xbox Accessories and Destiny 2. Also uninstalled both Origin and Apex. Can't find any way to tell Apex what controller to use... Anyone experienced this? Or any ideas?

@subw00fer37 I don't want to use any custom input mapping; I want to get rid of that and use baseline.

@Celestalon i'd open up device manager (start -> run -> devmgmt.msc) and remove any controllers you find in there, might have to do `show hidden devices` option in the view tab. if you're on win10, start -> `controllers` will bring up the USB controller menu too

@madsushi Ohhh, this is promising. Windows USB Controllers settings and device manager both had an X360 controller listed. Uninstalled that, restarting, trying again...

@Celestalon Steam settings -. Controller? Sorry I don't play Apex just giving suggestions.

@Celestalon Check "C:\Users\[yourusername[\Saved Games\Respawn\Apex\local" in the settings.cfg to see if there's a reference to the controller.

@madsushi The X360 controller did come back after a restart and reconnecting the controller, so maybe that's expected. I did notice that my Razer Tartarus (which is also new) also shows up in the Windows Game Controllers dialog, gunna try disconnecting that while playing Apex...

@dsmeclipsettv Ooo, promising. Just gunna nuke the whole Apex folder here (also installing through Steam instead of Origin).

@subw00fer37 I was about to say that Apex requires Origin, but then I just found that it's on Steam now (thank god). Uninstalling Origin and trying it through Steam now.

@Celestalon yeah, if that's not it, might just go into device manager, Human Interface Devices, and just go wild with removing them. you can always replug your mouse/kb to redetect them. `sound, video and game controllers` is the other place it could be

@madsushi I was thinking of doing that, 90% certain that just reconnecting all my peripherals would redetect them, but was a little timid. :)

@madsushi Ahhh, it works now! Some combination of... Removed X360 controller from device manager, uninstalled Origin, uninstalled Apex, unplugged my Razer Tartarus, win>Controllers set Xbone controller as default, 50 restarts, run r5apex.exe as admin.

@madsushi Oh, and deleting the /User/Saved Games/Respawn/Apex/ folder. Thanks to suggestions from @dsmeclipsettv, @madsushi, @Hikamiro, and @subw00fer37 for some of those!
