Trying Horizon for a bit since it’s free on PS5. Rather, trying to. I think it’s been half an hour and I haven’t shot anything with a bow? Why are games like this.

@HamletEJ ...didn't you love P5? The intro as Young Aloy is a bit long, but the game is oh so worth it. It's not much further.

@HamletEJ To be honest I found the narrative and world building compelling but I wasn’t blown away by the gameplay. I think if you’re not super intrigued by the narrative I wouldn’t feel too bad about giving up (personally).

@pedrothedagger I’m not at that point yet, I’m just annoyed this is so common. That said, I _was_ kind of hoping the combat would be that part that made me get more interested.

@HamletEJ @pedrothedagger The combat feel is phenomenal, *if* you're generally OK with games that involve on-the-fly weapon-swapping. If that mindset doesn't suit you, you'll find it 'clunky'. ;)

@Celestalon @HamletEJ Oh, the ranged combat feel is totally solid. The biggest issue I had was how their monster part designs encouraged samey strategies that weren’t easy to get tons of variety out of. Fighting monsters started to feel a little algorithmic to me. Melee combat tho was not good IMO.

@pedrothedagger @HamletEJ Interestingly, several people I've heard say similar... and yet had completely different playstyles. I think there's a lot of potential strategies, but people get blinded to ways other than what they're used to and good at, since it's so skill-based. (Same as in God of War.)
