Where to Watch?

For the Final Spot

Now that TNL defeated DsA to advance to the Playoffs, the final spot will be a fight between Tempest, DsA, and TAS. It should be a fierce battle between Tempest and DsA, as it is hard to predict which team will come out ahead. Tempest had quite a disappointing debut in Super League, falling powerless to TNL a few weeks ago in a 3-0. The team showed signs of strong team fights, but their coordination fell flat in the face of the well-oiled machine of TNL. DsA didn't have too much luck against TNL too, as they suffered a crushing 3-0 defeat this Monday. Although DsA was able to keep up with TNL's rotations fairly well in the first two games, they couldn't keep up with TNL in team fight, and got suffocated by TNL's hard siege comp in game 3. Based purely on the two team's performance against TNL, Tempest showed promise in their team fight but lacked "macro" control, while DsA was the opposite, so it will be interesting to see which teams will come out ahead when they crash.

The Patch - Tempest's moment to shine?

But the biggest factor in deciding the final spot of the playoffs is probably the new patch, which will be landing on Thursday Morning for Korea - only a few hours before the deciding match. Although all teams had access to the PTR and knew the patch details in advance, they would need to learn the ins-and-outs of the patch as they go. If the patch indeed brings on the second coming of the dive/warrior meta, it could add as a massive advantage for Tempest because Tempest is the spiritual successor of Team MRR, the very team that founded and mastered the Korean Triple Warrior composition. The buffs on Anub'arak and popularity of mages share strong similarities with the time when MRR first popularized that composition, but it's questionable whether such a comp could still has a room to thrive in the modern meta, where we have no shortage of high-damage melee bruisers like Thrall and strong push wave-clear/push heroes such as Xul. Either way, how the teams will be able to adapt to the new meta will be a key point to watch.
