This is actually great, and deserves pointing out more. I understand that it's not easy creating a TV friendly UI, what with all the broadcasting requirements, and as far as a 'sports'-themed UI goes it looks great.
Just thought that it would be a permanent thing, but aslong as this is only for the TV broadcasts, it's fine. Really wouldn't want to watch any grand championships with this UI. It's lacking too much information for my taste.
Would you happen to have any news on whether there is going to be a seperate stream from ESPN (like Twitch), with the usual UI for us information-freaks?
Either way, will definitely be tuning in! Go, bracket!

I'm not 100% on this as I wasn't part of the discussion for what would go out to the YouTube stream but I believe it's the same as the ESPN stream. Guess we'll both have to tune in and find out!

Matt, will we be able to use this UI for our observers? I can see it being used sometimes for streamers, or just watching replays. It would be cool as an option in the client.
I don't believe there have been any talks about this UI going out for observers. That said if there's something you all really like about this interface the UI team would love to hear it as they continue working on the current observer UI!
What was wrong with the old UI? I know some people complained about small talent icons, but atleast it showed the talents. This one doesn't even show which heroic was picked up, nor the cooldown.
Also while the map is easier to see now, it should show a lot more. This map tells us almost nothing. Hero icons, merc camps, how far the lane is pushed. This map is useless.
It feels like they are forcing way too much of an ESPN/'sports'-theme.
These questions will probably be asked multiple times over the weekend so hopefully I can shed some light onto this for you!
This User Interface (UI) was created for use in the Heroes of the Dorm broadcast this weekend. Other broadcasts outside of Heroes of the Dorm will continue to use the UIs you are likely already familiar with.
Additionally, creating a UI that is television-safe is a very intricate and tricky process. In order to accommodate the variety of resolutions and varied spectrum of other challenges this UI was created.
I ask kindly that you give the minimap and UI a shot and listen in to the casters as they will be your guides for this weekend's gameplay.
We always appreciate feedback and look to ever improve our broadcasts so please do let us know what you think of the production after the weekend is over!
