The game is more fun now with less mirror matches.

Edit - *Fewer Mirror Matches.

I play almost exclusively QM. This was a much needed change to the match making. Now every game I've played has been an enjoyable and dynamic one despite some losses. I've even seen wacky comps returning to QM now too.

I think the change is great.

They do need to remove this for new heroes during the first week or two. Trying to play a game with a new hero takes forever.

As others mentioned, the system doesn't forbid mirror matches. It just prefers not to make them. If it has no choice due to the volume of players queuing as a particular hero, such as launch days, it will make mirrors.

On launch days for new heroes, getting matches as that hero tends to take longer than normal due to the sheer number of people queuing as them. Even with mirrors, there's only two spots available per game and we've seen some hero launches where 90% of the QM queue is that single hero.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess Tracer, queue seemed to take forever even if you weren't playing her (I suppose because of groups)

I think that's correct. I'd have to compare it to the rest to make sure, but Tracer was the highest I remember seeing.

90%? Damn. That's far higher than I thought.

It's not quite as dramatic as it sounds since people who are queuing as anything other than the launch hero are getting games immediately, which makes the percentage of launch heroes in the queue go up.

I'm curious on the following :first week of Garrosh I had a 5-man party with him, and we were having awful queue times... Is there a bug in the matchmaker that puts us as if we needed to find a full party for that garrosh or was it something else messing up our queue?

That's something I'd need to look into to say for certain, but I doubt that one is related to Garrosh. It's more likely related to the team comp requirements and MMR matching relative to who was available in the queue at the time.
