New year, New Arthas model thread

So i am lvl 111 with Arthas and i hope this year will bring his model up to Garrosh, Hanzo and Malthael standards. If you put them side by side it's like Playstation 2 vs. Playstation 4.

Here i have two images of how he should look like

And then i made this in paint: https://imgur.com/a/81GMG

Obviously not the whole character but i changed his shoulderguard to the more correct one and darkened his face and blue glowing skulls to black. Huge difference only by doing that.

Now with the Mecha skins released with WHOLE NEW ANIMATIONS show Blizz really can do this. I hope Blizz will update Arthas model. Hell, even release his Wrath of the Lich King model as a legendary and i would even buy it in an instant.

Arthas remodel question was brought up at Blizzcon. Their response was they are fine with the model.

Not at all what I said. :) What I said is that we're fine with the height of the model. What we would want to do is to make the different elements of his body proportional so that he looks less squat.

We still would like to do a rework of his model but it's a matter of finding when we can put it in the schedule.

We hear you. You want the Arthas model reworked. We want the Arthas model reworked.

That's a bummer to hear you guys are going to rework it. I'm probably the only one here left that still likes the exaggerated proportions of the WC3 art style that Arthas and Uther have, and frankly, I love his current model because of that. Ah well, it's not that big of a deal either way.

That's part of it. We want to keep people like you happy while providing a newer model for those who want it. It's a lot more moving parts than just "lets make a skin." A new model will require new animations. Those animations will need to be compared to the old model to make sure design is happy with it. There are a bunch of other departments that need to chime in as well.

It sounds like this but it's more organized. :)

What about those of us who like the current Arthas model? Why not just release a new skin rather than remove the current one? I’m still bummed that the original Murky model is gone :(

Our hope would be to keep both.

What about us that like the old arthas model, want a new arthas model, and would really like maybe a third even newer arthas model, with bitchin' flames, racing stripes, and lazer beam eyes?

    You have my attention.

    How long does it take?

The art portion usually takes about 10-12 weeks for the model/animation/fx bits. Then you need to put it through QA, bug fixing, sound, design review, release scheduling. It's all about figuring out where we can fit 3-4 (potentially 6 depending on some factors) months of work in our already aggressive work schedule which brings a fairly regular release of skins, heroes, battlegrounds, reworks, and balance updates. Everyone is working hard to bring as much awesome content to you guys as fast as we can.

We have only so many people but throwing more potential mothers and fathers into the mix doesn't mean a single baby is going to come any faster :)

How can you really say that... just care about Arthas' Paladin model in wow also his black statue ,you build it not me or any other , isnt this height difference obvious ?! regardless of those , is really that height for a human character proper ?

Please as a Blizzard player/Arthas' fan , I beg you to think again.

Both you and the team agrees. Please reread.

I mean Arthas is short , and you're not going to increase his height , you're fine with the height of the model.

I tried to prove it , by mentioning Arthas' Paladin model , and black statue. I do so now about Leoric , and Nephalems .

"Please Give WC human characters an Appropriate Height " . at least in HotS.

Height in Heroes has to do with how tall they are in relation to the other units of their like. If everyone was the height they should be Azmodan would be about 4 times larger than he is now. Murky would be about the height of a lane minion and Chromie would be about the same height as well. Sargent hammer would be about half the size of Azmodan at his increased height. That's where we won't budge much. We'll address the proportions at some point. Thanks for bringing it up. :)
