Patchnotes could be better

Good patch notes are important. Normal players don't have access to the changes, and datamining is punishable by license revocation - that is, losing your entire account. In other words, shy of trying out each and every ability and talent, the patch notes are the only way for a normal user to see what has changed.

That makes it vital that the patch notes are correct and complete.

I understand that compiling patch notes can be a pain. But lately, they have been off the mark a lot. Undocumented changes, unclear changes, patch notes being edited after being released without notification, there is a lot.

The last patch notes

  • Were edited PTR patchnotes so that it's impossible to diff the PTR notes and the final notes
  • Didn't document changes to Tyrael
  • Didn't document changes to portals
  • Were silently edited to reflect the minion buff nerf
  • Didn't include the time restriction on Mutalisk
  • Didn't document the changes to Engergizing Grasp
  • Didn't document Zagara losing bolt
  • Didn't document the matchmaker changes

Frankly, these patch notes were a mess.

Sure, there were a lot of changes, I understand that, and it's easy to miss one or two things. But the patch notes are vital to players, and the only reasonable and centralized source of information about what changed.

It would be nice if there was more QA on them.

There's definitely room for improvement here. We've seen a lot of good ideas in this thread that we can explore, including some colored change designators or the inclusion of an edits section when we need to add or adjust notes. Additionally, we are looking into some new processes internally to make patch notes more consistent and all inclusive going forward, which may include some amount of automation. Thanks for putting this together!
