Favorite Heroes

Hello there!
What are your top 3 favorite heroes that havent been added to the game yet but you want them to be added from the 3 universes alltogether (Warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo) ?
Mine are:
Vol'jin
Amon
Belial

Just to put this out there. This is not a reflection of what's on the docket but this is my personal wants. There's a lot more into choosing a hero than my vote. We are a team after all.

    But, here's mine.

    • Blackthorne (This guy amirite?)
    • Baal (would love to round out the prime evils)
    • Mannoroth (the silhouette is what pulls me in here. Also, Pit Lord.)

Never heard of Blackthorne ( its blizz game right?)
Id love to see Baal and Mannoroth too:)
From what i see from the comments people want almost the same heroes ^^

Yup. Blackthorne is an oldschool sidescroller game from early Blizz days. You can download it and play it right now from your download list here https://www.blizzard.com/en-us/download/

Didn't someone from the dev team say Mannoroth would be too hard because of the many limbs? If not, you now found your next Blizzcon hero!

There are challenges to creating Mannoroth because of the limbs. But this is what I want. If the question was "What are your top 3 favorite heroes that haven't been added to the game yet but you want them to be added from the 3 universes alltogether (warcraft, Starcraft, Diablo) that have relatively no challenges from the development side?" These answers would be different. :)

Why? If that is the case how come we have DW and Alexstrasza, i thought they both have alot of limbs?

Mannoroth has 2 extra. 8 total. Adding 2 new chains of bones has some repercussions on the Animation and performance side. Not unsolvable. Just more challenging than DW or Alex.

He has 4 legs, 2 arms, 2 wings and a tail. Each one requires animating and the movement of each one needs to be taken into account when animating each of the others.

    Edit:

    1. Mannoroth
    2. Any of the old gods
    3. Zergling pack

And adding bones means there's more information passed to your gpu (or cpu depending) which may cause more gpu (or cpu) cycles meaning your graphics card (or cpu) works more, also animation adds more data that needs to be stored and played back. Things get out of hand pretty quick. All of this needs to be taken into account.

Hey, someone remembers that old school section is a thing! :) Any way we can get a Classics section in the Launcher, so folks can download things like this easier? I feel very few folks even know there are free games available- and it'd help Blackthorne's popularity.
    Thanks a bunch Dev!

Some of us have requested it from the team that handles that. I imagine the list of things they need to do is long. Both of us have to be patient I suppose :)

Are designing complicated characters like this fun for you guys, or stressful because it is so much work?

For me, making characters is fun regardless of stress or work load. I look at potential heroes and ask myself if the end result would be fun and add something awesome to our game.

How big do you expect him to be? At least he doesn't have to be bigger than dragons.

I wouldn't expect him to be bigger than ChoGall but that's the kind of thing we would have to figure out when we're playing around with scale at the start of development of a character.

    Also, particles on his back.

    Yup. That too.

That does make a lot of sense actually. Would it therefore also demand a big chunk of extra work when animating something like the "snake-hair" of Lady Vashj?

Lady Vashj has similar problems with a potentially large bone count however she's got a different set of challenges if you want her snake body to follow the ground. Again, not unsolvable but different challenges than your typical biped.

Is it technically possible, for example, that Blackthrone visualy changes his weapon with every talent tier? (idea is the reference for '90s movie action heroes, where they change multiple weapons during the movie, throwing empty one on the ground)

Sounds like a cool idea. Would need to explore it during the art/design sync phase mostly. Things like this we usually try to tie into a kit if there's a lot of work going into the different guns and animations backing it. e.g. the spinning shotgun move in terminator 2 is handled differently than a single arm pump shotgun used later in the film. This is outside just tossing them away but it's the kind of thing you have to think of when talking about multiple weapons.
