"Play 8 games" daily quest disappearing?

Just noticed this daily quest on the PTR:

"Play 3 games"

I know about the daily quest change coming so that playing draft game modes will satisfy the role-specific and universe-specific daily quests (see the PTR patch notes), but I didn't know they are adding this "Play 3 games" quest. Has anyone seen the "Play 8 games" quest on the PTR? It seems like they may be replacing the 8-game quest with this 3-game one.

EDIT: The "Play 8 games" quest still exists on the PTR. So the "Play 3 games" quest may just be a new type of quest. Thanks to Maskimus.

EDIT 2: BlizzTravis confirms this quest will be for new players only.

The players first quest is always "Play 3 Games". That the only quest you get at level 1.

Small question, what happens if you don't complete the quest and stay at 1? Do you not get any quest for the second day?

You wouldn't get a second quest in that case. The others come into the pool at level 2, which you'll get to if you complete that first quest anyway.

If you bank low quests you increase your average gold gain. This is because every quests had the same % of appearing.

The way you phrased yourself felt like you can know modify the quests on a case by case basis, and change the %so no matter what quests are banked you'll always have the same average gold (365 IIRC).

Such a change will be both good and bad, since we're a society where we try to always improve our gains we wouldn't have to worry about not playing any more games to not ruin or income, but we would feel forced to stay until 2 am to finish 8 games quest on a single day for that same reason.

Ahh, gotcha. It's the same selection you're used to after level 10. We just added some logic that lets us customize which quests are offered based on the player, particularly to help ease new players into things.

    • Quests are now offered starting at level 1.
    • The players first quest is always "Play 3 Games". That the only quest you get at level 1.
    • The Play 3 Games quest is available up until level 10. At level 11, it is replaced by the Play 8 Games quest. The Win 3 Games quest comes in at this point too.

It'll be in the PTR notes shortly. Sorry for missing it the first time.

What's your motivation for keeping the changes so secretive? I'm still a bit leery from the undocumented collision changes >.>

It's not intentionally secretive. I'm seeing about getting it added to the patch notes. Just an oversight.

I'm worried about this statement and banking dailies. Is there any changes outside of new players?

What's the concern relative to banking? Didn't make any changes there.

    It still exists.

We made some behind the scenes updates to the quest system with this patch that allows us to fine tune who quests are offered to. The Play 3 Games quest is offered to new players as a way to ease into things.
