They detailed their monetization. Fuck tons of free shit, and you can choose what kind of cards you want. Also looks like chests can contain wildcards, which you can turn into any card.
Do you have any idea if they plan on incorporating any form of secondary market, like Counter-Strikes skin market? In my opinion, having a market that allows to buying/selling cards is a very healthy and necessary aspect of any card game.
Are you one of the lead devs? Incredibly excited to see what Riot can do in the card game genre and from what I've heard it sounds very fair in terms of cost too. I hope you fix a lot of problems people have with Hearthstone.
I'm with the publishing team - you'll likely see myself and u/_A_Small_Man (comms lead) around a lot on the new LoR subreddit
I like the feel of opening packs though, will we still be able to open packs in this game?
You will still be able to earn (and open) chests with randomized content in them by playing the game - you just won't find anything like that in the store :)

EDIT: article is out now, you can read it here
We've got a massive article coming tomorrow on playruneterra.com that will outline the decisions behind progression / monetization in detail.
I'm obviously biased, but having invested more in card games than any other genre, I gotta say I'm pretty stoked for how LoR is gonna do it.
EDIT: in case you missed it, here's the video overview where we talk briefly about progression / monetization and another video that explains LoR gameplay

check out the article on progression / monetization we released today for more info on that
