This format is the best. I learn everything I need to know about the champ without any "filler" clips.

Cool, that's basically the goal right there!

I like that I can watch it again during the loading screen

Sweet that was definitely one of our aims in cutting it down - you have enough time to watch it from the time you pick / see your opponent pick the champ to when minions spawn.

The only thing I miss is more gameplay. I really loved seeing cool plays in the spotlight that made the champs look cool. That's always what I went for first in spotlights. The runes and masteries and item builds being removed makes 100% sense.

I'm in the same camp as you, I really like the more extended gameplay clips. We'll think about it!

This one was probably too rushed, it basically felt like narrating the champions ability page with added puns. Probably a few more examples of plays like R-charge -> flash over wall or some champion synergy examples could help drag it out by another minute or so

Yeah, it was pretty fast this time. Thanks for the comment

I felt like I still have no idea about how to actually use the abilities + playstyle... It felt like you were leaving a lot up to interpretation and to the creativity of the player base. It just didn't make me excited at all to play the champ, especially seeing reused examples that were on the champion page. Why not have some teamfighting examples?

good point, that's definitely something we've gone back and forth on.

No. She won’t gain cait’s range if she copies her. She just gains melee range.

^ will only shift to shorter range, not longer afaik

The old spotlights used to feature more playstyles as well as mentions of runes and masteries along with builds.

We found those got outdated super quick, and there's also a major dropoff in viewership after the core ability demos + play pattern examples, so we're trying out shorter and sweeter spotlights that deliver what you're really looking for (puns included ofc).

The hope is that you're still getting the most useful info from the spotlight, without us piling on stuff you're likely to look for elsewhere (meta builds / runes), which saves us some time that we can spend elsewhere (like putting more effort into the initial teaser trailers).

How you all feeling about this one?

Definitely the right call on cutting the build recommendations, trimming the spotlights down, and personally I enjoy the more substantive teasers.

But this spotlight did feel (to me) like it could have used another 20s or so to showcase some sweet plays or even just one big play that really used the whole kit all together in a real situation. Considering the core conceit of the champion, we didn't see her from the enemy pov very much, for example.

I mean, the video broke the champion down perfectly well - I feel like I know what the hell she does now, so mission accomplished there. It was tight, entertaining, with no filler, got a couple of genuine laughs from the narration, video, and VO. But it lacked a capstone, a climax, a big moment. It's only been a few minutes and I remember roughly one play - the Kas and Vi gank. The core of which was really just Neeko using W successfully (which was cool!) then unloading onto the CCed Kas.

I know how much work a video like this is to put together, and how much harder what I'm suggesting would make it. But one way I would have been wowed as a viewer would have been if you managed to wrong-foot me. If that makes sense? - Imagine some LoL is going on, we're watching from one team's pov, it's normal-normal-normal-whoa, that was Neeko? I thought she was- My team is dying? What? Lemme skip back and see where I lost track of our real Lee Sin (or whatever).

tl;dr: The spotlight lacked a moment that made me say "I want to master that champ and pull off that because that was cool."

Just some friendly, hopefully constructive, criticism.

Very friendly and super constructive, thanks!
