I really wish the nexus was positioned so that it was the 'thing' my units attacked directly.
Just feels so weird to attack their hand/empty board and then to see the red energy flow to their nexus to deal damage.
Maybe it could split up the backline? this would also give the board more horizontal room.

We tried this! We used to have the Nexus Crystal in the back middle, splitting up the back row of units. However, through playtesting we found that players were confused early on about the "units on the left vs the right", especially as we don't allow you to place the units in specific slots. It also didn't give us any meaningful room on the back row. Ultimately, we decided to revert the change. Totally understand it's less visceral with the crystals on the left though.
