Strategy for optimal card acquisition - Open Beta Edition!

A while back I created this thread to start a discussion about what would be your best strategy for card acquisition. Now that we know the next Beta phase is going to be on the 24th and OPEN to everyone, I figured this would be a good time to start theorycrafting around "best ways" for card acquisition.

What we know from the most recent preview patch (11/13):

Starter decks

  • Demacia/Freljord: CEAAEBYBAEDRMGREFYZDKCABAABQMCYSCQNB2JYCAQAQABYMFIWAMAIBBEKCAIRHFE
  • Noxus/Isles: CEAAECABAMGA6EYXEYVS4NYIAECQCGY5FAVTCMRVAICACBJCEYUTMBABAMBASFRT
  • PZ/Ionia: CEAAECABAIDASDAUDIOC2OIJAECBEEY3DQTSQNBXHMBAEAIEBUWAIAICC4MB4KY

Starter pack

  • There was a "starter pack" available as a "one time" purchase for around 10$ in the store on the preview patch. Thanks to u/ItsSophieToYou, you can find the link to the recorded content from a community member here. It is hard to say if the pack will be back or if it will contain the same content so for now, let us not account for its content in this exercise.

Wildcards (from the store)

  • The store will provide us with a "weekly" supply of wildcards to buy. From the last preview patch, this was the breakdown of the supply:
    • Champion x3
    • Epic x3
    • Rare x6
    • Common x6

They also mention they would fine tunes these values over time and that the "preview patch" numbers were likely higher than what would the release numbers would look like. So, for the sake of this exercise, lets assume 2-2-4-4 as our "safe bet" for now.

System for card acquisition

The way you unlock cards in LoR is by playing and gathering XP. XP which you "assign" to a faction. As you play, you unlock greater and greater rewards with each step requiring more XP to unlock. You also have a "weekly vault" that the same XP help you progress towards that will reward you with shards, cards and wildcards.

The bottom line is that when you play, you can XP. IF you win you gain significantly more than you lose.

Ranked Ladder

This is an unknown but we know a ranked ladder is coming and there might be additional rewards for progressing through it. So we will assume that this is going to be the best place to "farm" XP for the purpose of this strategy as the "worse case scenario" is that it gives the same amount of XP as the "non ranked queue" with no additional reward (which would be the exact equivalent).

The strategy

Alright, it all comes down to this question : What is the best possible deck for ranked play you can build out of the starter decks + a 2-2-4-4 wildcard supply?

Personnally, I really like the removal of Shadow Isles and the powerful midrange and top end of Freljord. I also want to do a lot of experiment with Atrocity as I think it is going to be a defining card of the meta (but this is for another long post!). Either way, following my deckbuilding constraints I'll be going with something like this: CEBACAIFDEBACAIDA4BAKAIBCYSCSLRSAYAQKAJIFIVTCNICAQAQCCIUEATQKAIFEERCSLZW

The great debate!

What will your "day 0" build be? What do you think is the most powerful deck you can build out of the starter decks?

Discuss!

What the hell is that "HHA7YR74587HRJDNVKSJN" thing? Sorry, Im new to card games.

It’s a deck share code. It doesn’t mean much if you just look at it, but you can import it into the deck builder or at lor.mobalytics.gg and see the deck it represents.
