PSA: When you clone a follower/champ that has captured one of your own and it dies, you get a copy of your captured unit on your side of the board

Just found this out by accident and it really turned the game around. Don't think the opponent expected it either.

This seems to be a strange interaction, that you would need either the cloned unit or the clone dies in order for the detained unit to get free You are cloning a unit that has captured another unit making the total of units on one card, 2. You said the cloning mechanic is to clone all effects, it would mean that the Captured unit is cloned too, unless we give more details on the Capture mechanic.

On another aspect of the Capture mechanic, does it mean the interaction with Purify intended ? Meaning you erase completely the captured unit from the game ?

That seems like a bit of a leap to me :P. When a unit is captured it goes to an off-screen region. Then the unit capturing it gets an effect that says "when I leave play, return the unit i've captured to play"

To your second question, the interaction with purify is intended b/c the unit capturing loses the above effect: you haven't erased the captured unit from the game entirely...there's just no content in set 1 that can bring it back :)

So if the unit clones the effect "when I leave play, return the unit I've captured to play", that should mean the Captured unit isn't cloned indeed, but the clone didn't capture the unit in the first place, so would that rather mean the clone didn't capture the unit in the first place and thus can't free a unit when the clone leaves play ?

I know you have some established intentions on many mechanics, I'm not trying to mess around, but it's true it's those kind of complex mechanics that can create whole new niche plays, so it's always nice to understand how it works.

it's copying the effect of "when this unit (as in the unit that holds the effect) leaves play return x unit to play". The effect doesn't look at who did the capturing, it only looks at the return part. Last time I checked with design (a couple weeks ago) this was the desired, intended behavior.

This is a bug if true. Intended behavior is the clone will copy all effects (including the effect of capturing another unit). The uncloned, captured follower should be returned to play when either the clone or cloned unit dies
