I was hoping for 1.0 being a bit more polished

I love the positivity in this sub, we are all very satisfied with this game and that´s a great thing. But i think once in a while we can also handle a bit of slight criticism.

1.0 is great and i love this game. Really the only thing i was hoping for but didn´t get is client bugfixes. We now have even more bugs in the full release 1.0 version than we had in 0.9.4 beta afaik. Ofc that is only subjective perception and i could be factually wrong but every single bug i noticed in beta still exists in 1.0. And it´s not like they are tiny bugs that only i noticed, i see posts about them here in this sub on a daily basis.

Especially the deck editor is by far the most buggy thing in the game. The 3 point count under the cards is bugged in many ways, when importing decks or adding cards to your deck too fast for example it will bug out. Misclicking and hitting a spot next to "Done" in deck builder throws a card out of your deck and you don´t know which one it was. Every time you change to another tab in the main menu (from "Start" to "Play" for example) you have to click the deck you want to play or change 2 times instead of once. Stuff like this is super obvious and i just can´t imagine no one at Riot noticed them yet, especially when they constantly get posted here. And i´m not even talking about quality of life updates like being able to put cards you don´t own in your deck for planning purposes.

Some posts with a good amount of upvotes here even stated that the "visual experience bug" they acknowledged in the main menu since release day isn´t only visual and you actually really get the wrong amounts of experience. We are 5 days into 1.0 now and this actually kind of game breaking bug still persists in this important time when many new players try out this game and will be turned off by inconveniences like this.

Of course there are also many new bugs that 1.0 brought us, especially game breaking card interaction bugs, but it´s unavoidable and expected for big updates to introduce new problems. Yes, there are more new bugs than i was hoping for but they will hopefully fix them asap. In this post i´m mainly talking about persisting quality of life bugs that were here long before 1.0 and that i was always counting on getting sorted out by the big release update.

I´m not saying this game is a buggy mess, that´s not at all the case and i love everything about LOR aside from its bugs. I´m saying i was hoping for 1.0 to bring us a bit more polish. Maybe we will get that in the next update, we will see. But a bit of communication from Riot would be neat so at least we know that they are aware of those problems. Not fixing such obvious and seemingly easy to fix flaws for so long draws the picture of them not having noticed them yet and as long as that´s the case people will keep complaining about them here.

Tl;dr: This game and the 1.0 update are great but i was hoping for the release update to sort out more of the bugs that are being posted here on a daily basis since months.

Edit: Some of the commenters are saying that 1.0 also feels a bit lackluster feature wise, aside from the great new set. (Which is a bit plagued by inconsistencies and bugs.) It isn´t the BIG release update with lots of quality of life improvements, a better deck builder, etc. that people expected. But i agree with another commenter who mentioned that this could be because of the current pandemic which slowed down development. That would explain a lot to me. Still, a bit of communication from Riot on this topic wouldn´t hurt.

Just gonna say that it's super nice to see you guys responding to a lot of criticism and feedback. Hope this will extend past the launch period, I think you guys are doing a great job thus far.

I personally have my stern reservations about making posts that are just overwhelmingly positive at the launch of a game or expansion since plenty of companies have shown to only care about making that good first impression and then milking the customers. This subreddit saw a lot of those posts on launch day, which I was skeptical about, but I'm stoked to see that people aren't afraid to criticize aspects of the game and that you guys are actually responding to these posts - it makes me very hopeful for the future of LoR. I love the game so far but I think a healthy dose of skepticism never hurts when it comes to games and Riot seems to be aware of that and handling it very well - excited to see what the future holds.

Glad to hear it makes a difference! I've been working on this game for a long time so it is exciting to see how some of my guesses panned out whether for the good or for the bad. And if it is bad we'll try and make it better for you all!

Hello! Thanks for the thoughtful message and the feedback. I’m always so impressed with the amount of positivity in this subreddit, and I definitely appreciate the constructive feedback/criticism. We are in this for the long haul!

My main focus is on gameplay, but I try to keep aware of the whole state of the game. I looked through and of the bugs you mentioned in your original post are on our backlog and will get addressed. One of the tricky parts of dev is the fact everytime we build a new feature we find or introduce bugs. Bah!

I will also agree that if you were a dedicated LoR player before 1.0 then there might not feel like there were a ton of new features in the last patch. Trust me we do have tons of new stuff planned for LoR this upcoming year and some of it I’m really excited and I think you all will be too!

Thanks for your patience and for playing. Please keep the feedback coming too. I’m glad you all just want LoR to get better and better.

Yes, it’s easy from home, but as you said the resources are the smaller problem for the Devs...

First of all communication is more limited then when they are all together in the office, also you should know that it’s way easier to get distracted from work when you are home and most of the devs have families so it’s hard to focus

    TB-124: Yes!

    Hello!

What's the most efficient way for us to report minor bugs? Something that doesn't affect gameplay or clarity in a serious way. There have been a couple of small issues I've come across that aren't worth the customer service email process, but I'd still like to make you guys aware if you want that sort of information.

Great question! The best way is through our support portal: https://support-legendsofruneterra.riotgames.com/hc/en-us

That way those tickets will get to the right teams with all the right info too. Thanks!
