Playing a trigger based deck is atrocious.

The stack seriously sucks and makes playing a trigger based deck impossible. My deck uses [[Ajani's Welcome]] + [[Ajani's Pridemate]] + [[Animation Module]] to generate loads of life and tokens. The deck is fun and i would like to take it to the next level, but it is impossible to play in Magic Arena. Matches take years to complete and most of the time is spent on "minor" annoyances like resolving triggers.

Both Ajani's Pridemate and Animation Module will ask for each trigger instance on the stack. If the board state is developed like this, a single token will generate six life, resulting in twelve trigger. That means I have to manually place six +1/+1 counters and, if i have a single treasure token I want to leave for Treasure Cove, decline six triggers for Animation Module. It doesn't matter if I pass priority with <Enter> or <Strg+Enter>, the game will pause and bug me to select what happens with each trigger. Furthermore, the game doesn't even have hot-keys for the trigger interaction. I have to click for each single trigger instance on the stack.

What could be done to improve this and not let token-players feel like third-world citizens:

  • Add hotkeys for trigger interaction on the stack. Pressing <Space> should select the blue highlighted option. On a side-note, this is also missing from the "reveal" interaction (Explore, Karn +1, ..)

  • Be able to select if I want a trigger to always resolve. I always want Ajani's Pridemate to get a +1/+1 counter. Take a look at how MTGO does it.

  • Let the stack auto-resolve if I pass the turn. Neither player in the match wants to sit and stare at the stack for 3+ minutes straight. It cant be that the only way to escape the trigger madness is to concede or time out.

  • Show the number of items on the stack. It is horrifying to be stuck resolving triggers and not knowing when it ends. This also lets the opponent decide if he can watch an episode of Rick and Morty or run to the bathroom until i'm done.

Thanks for reading, this has been bothering me for a long time.

PS: At least the new timer doesn't time me out if my stack is too big, so I have that going for me..

    • I'm not sure about trigger interaction on the stack, but I know updating the hotkey for resolving "cards that appear in the middle of the screen" is being worked on. Will ask about whether or not it will also auto-resolve the highlighted action.
    • There is a bug that if there are too many triggers on the stack, the game stops auto-resolving triggers even when the player has no available actions. It's a 'known issue' but not on the known issues list (note to self: get on that).

Will ask/pass along feedback about the other stuff, particularly auto-resolving when you select 'pass turn' and showing a count of triggers on the stack.
