So now we have two 100 card singleton formats. From a marketing standpoint having 2 formats that are very similar down to just a couple rules seems like a mis-step. Have one format and standardize it across the platforms like they did with Brawl initially.
It may be semantics, but it just comes off as "no-no that other EDH format"
Cardpool is the biggest reason. Arena won't be able to fill out a cardpool that feels like "Commander" for a while. But Historic Brawl we can do.
I would assume the 4-player nature of commander is also a big reason it doesn’t make sense for Arena, unless… ;)
Oh yes, I was talking about 2-player Commander. Multi-player remains a massive lift. For context there, because I've thought about this a lot, it's not just the rules work to support 4-player games and the UI work to display it properly, it's also things like giving you ways to effectively play politics with the other players, or finding a group that's interested in the same level of jankiness/power/etc. you are. Full Commander would be a lot.
