Mitigating the “wait, what just happened?” feeling in Arena?

Hi all, I’m new to the game both physically and digitally, and while I’m enjoying it and not really expecting to win much with my starter cards and lack of tactical experience, there often comes a point in an Arena match where everything just whizzes, lights up, and 5 seconds later, all my dudes are dead and I have 3 life left.

Is there any way to slow this down or something? I don’t mind getting destroyed, but I would like to at least be able to read what’s going on and go “oh wow, that’s a cool card,” or “dang, that was a slick combination.”

But most times, I’m just recovering from the special effects and not actually learning anything...which makes it sort of a drag. I play games to have fun PLAYING, not winning.

Thanks for any help/tips.

As a follow-up, is there actually a way to look at effects on the stack that aren’t at the top? Several times I’ve encountered that there was something on the stack that I didn’t recognize, but couldn’t read it because it wasn’t at the top.

Right click on any item on the stack to open a larger view of it.
