They've fixed the issue with korean sounds crashing the game with this patch! For some reason on the PTR whenever you paired english text with korean sounds in Overwatch, it would crash as soon as you tried to load into the Training Range etc.
Glad that's fixed now.
Nice catch! This is one of the major crashes we fixed today. I hope everyone has a great week (and holiday if you’re celebrating)!
Woah, okay, so with this newer patch added and having just finished testing it out on my potato PC with the short amount of time I have right now
The most noticeable change I could see - I am now able to enter OW and after only about 10 or so seconds of 0-3 FPS (as opposed to 2-3mins), the frames then ramp up to about 15-20 FPS, which I'll take, I can now navigate the menus with ease after little time as opposed to minutes worth (the frames bump up a lot after about 2-3mins). I then entered the training room, which - holy Carpe - it started at about 35-49 and then after about 30 seconds stayed around 55-60 fps! I've never seen that magical 60 number before haha. But yeah, that was in the training room, there weren't any special effects or anything - so I loaded up a custom game and put the recommended bots in - testing against particle effects from Lucio, Zarya, etc, and my frames dropped to a manageable 35-45 as opposed to 15-25 pre these patches.
I'm still running OW in windowed 1024x768 but maybe after these patches I won't need to for long!
I can't really speak about any other changes due to time constraints, but from what I noticed, I'm happy
Great job Blizzard, thank you for looking into game optimisation
Very happy to hear it’s running better for you! I’ll pass the feedback along to the folks who did this work. Cheers.
