Major problem in competitive
Recently, there has been multiple accounts of ddosing in competitive. It ruins the game for multiple people by making them lose SR and possibly banning them. This is common in lower ranks, and has been ruining games for me. Recently, I was playing competitive on Numbani and we were pushing the payload to the checkpoint when all of a sudden one of my teammates left. Then one minute later, my internet connection shuts off and I can't get onto anything and have to wait until the game is over for it to turn on again. Another case of this happening was in an Eichenwalde game. We had defended to where the attackers only captured 27% of the point. In what should have been an easy win, all of a sudden my internet shuts off and when I go back onto Overwatch 10 minutes later, I see that I have lost 50 sr and have a 30 minute ban. Blizzard is notorious for finding hackers and banning them with ease, so they need to find to fix this. I am now one leave away from being banned this season because of this problem, and it has led me to stop playing competitive this season altogether. Blizzard needs to find a way to mask our IPs in-game or else this will be happening to more and more people.

Overwatch does not reveal your IP address to other players in any circumstance. All data from you goes directly to the server and then our servers are responsible for updating the other players. This includes voice chat.
I believe there was some confusion about this topic due to the way that console (PlayStation 4, Xbox One) parties may work. Being in a console party will reveal your IP address to other players, Microsoft has posted an FAQ here that has more information.
We take abuse of the service very seriously and will continue to put a great deal of effort into handling any incidents of abuse. If you have any additional information which can help us investigate an incident please use the report player function or send an email directly to [email protected].
Thanks!
