So... what's with having to load in assets every time the game starts?

I know that this happens to a lot of people, and I was wondering why so many assets seem to be network based instead of somewhere on the PC. Basically, in a little over half of my games, I start the game as not being able to see anyone and having no weapons model on my screen. The assets load in slowly, sometimes taking two to three minutes; first my weapons model comes in, and then the friendly and enemy characters, and then the sounds, which always takes a LONG time. This is punctuated by extremely frequent frame lag spikes even though my computer can run the game perfectly fine. This has happened since I got the game in December, and I always thought that it was a bug that would eventually be addressed... but it seems as if it's not? So, does anyone have any idea how you're supposed to fix this so that you can actually play the game?

Hey there. The installer for overwatch will download all assets during he install. The loading you're seeing is unfortunately slow loading from your hard drive.

This can be caused by using certain (typically power efficient) slow drive models, or having other programs demanding a lot from the same disk overwatch is on. If you do happen to be on an SSD, I'd check if it's almost full.
