A First Time Players Perspective

Hello all,

I am not new to competitive video games. I have played hundreds of hours CSGO, COD, RB6 Siege, and even a little bit of Smite (not my thing). With the free weekend I decided to try out the game all my friends had been playing for months. I hate being a noob so I watched as many videos as I could so I would have at least a general understanding of how the game played.

My first few games went as expected. I had no idea what was happening and I was getting my ass kicked. I still had fun and my friends were very supportive. They are all pretty high ranked so I assume this made me play against higher skill players in quick play.

My first impression is that the game is super fun. I can see how it would be an incredible experience once high level play and teamwork is achieved. My next impression is that this game is super hard to learn. The 6v6 format is so frantic and crazy, especially when you don’t know any characters or how they can kill you.

I played solo once my friends left and I actually did worse. It seems the free weekend has created millions of smurfs that absolutely wreck house. Game after game there would be a dude playing Genji or Widowmaker just absolutely destroying us. I would look at their rank and it would say level 4. It makes it super hard to learn the game when I can’t even step out of spawn without getting sniped.

I still enjoy the game, but for some players this free weekend could be a huge turnoff.

TLDR - new player opinion = confusing but fun. Smurfs make learning gameplay impossible right now. Remaining positive that it will improve after free weekend.
