thats a tiny sample size, sorry im sure a majority of people would hate this idea. its known ALOT of people take time off work to nolife wow expansions and what happens when they take 4 days off for the beginning and then maybe not meet the raids because theyre having to do overtime to pick up for the lost time

My point was simply that "top end raiders" don't automatically and invariably hate the idea.

hes missing the point in top end raiders which most of his points were aimed at. theyre gonna do the hard modes no matter the gear, theyre going to rush leveling to matter if the raids are ready. they are going to farm the "bis blues" he talked about within the first few days because heroics are never difficult for anybody. shit idea.

I'd actually pitched the idea on my stream before recording the episode -- had several members of Blood Legion actually say they'd love it :)

You should free to play the game at any pace you wish, be it leisurely or obsessive.

I wish it worked out that way in practice :(

I think next week's episode will be about the illusion of choice, and how many options aren't really options at all

    Guild/Raid leader here.

When WOTLK launched, I was the 2nd DK on my server to 80. I was also the 2nd person in my guild to hit 80, despite having to level from 55 to 80 while everyone else leveled 70 to 80. I was first in Cataclysm and hit 85 on launch day.

While we started off as a 25 man guild from the end of Wrath of the Lich King, we barely had 10 85s at the end of the first week and managed to only kill the first (and at the time, only) boss in Baradin Hold. It was not until after Christmas that we really started progressing in raids. At the same time, however, a lot of the hardcore guilds were already clearing the instances that we had barely stepped foot in and were pushing hard modes.

My guild is more casual than others and it will more than likely take us a few weeks to get started up on raids after Mists of Pandaria launches. But that doesn't mean the people who play the game like a race should have to wait 3-4 weeks so the casuals can start raiding at the same time. For some, the race is the best part of the game for them and it would be a bad move for Blizzard to take that away in my opinion.

I would like to see Normal modes available as soon as the game launches with at least one LFR raid available the next week (if they decide to split LFR raids like they did with DS and Fall was available week 2 of 4.3). Heroic modes would be available to the guilds that cleared Normal on week one.

I can understand his point about wanting to take the time to enjoy the leveling experience and not feeling compelled to spend 12 hours+ a day playing WoW for the following weeks after an expansion launches. But that's part of the game when you're in a hardcore raiding guild that wants to push for ranked kills.

This is something that guilds need to decide for themselves and not rely on Blizzard to make that call for them.

Unfortunately, it's not really a choice that any sensible guild would make. If you choose to delay your raiding by even two weeks, you're going to be behind in progression. There's usually a large amount of turnover between expansions, which means you'll need to recruit, which means you'll need to be attractive to new members. If you're the guild that hasn't killed anything (or is 5 bosses behind, or hasn't unlocked Heroic modes yet) at the start of an expansion, you will not be able (or be at an extreme disadvantage) to fill spots in your raid roster.
