Should I be upset about the Dragon Soul nerfs?

Then what are you complaining about? You have finished the content; your race is over. Turn off the buff if you want a challenge, leave it on if you want a fast farm.

Other people downing content doesn't affect you.

I don't care if other people down content either, that's not even remotely what I'm talking about.

I guess this is what I get for trying to have a discussion on Reddit

possible outcomes of this flowchart, presented in a more friendly and fluffy way (aka, i have nerfed the sass in the original flowchart):

    do you raid?

    1. no > why are you complaining about the nerfs? you don't even raid.
    2. yes > i raid LFR > that's not really raiding, and the nerf does not affect LFR. why are you complaining?
    3. yes > i raid normal > i admit this one is fairly elitest, but let's be honest, with a 20% nerf, normals are a joke now.
    4. yes > i raid heroics > we are stuck on a boss > the nerf will help you down the boss you are stuck on, why are you complaining?
    5. yes > i raid heroics > we are progressing smoothly, but are not 8/8 > the nerf will help you down the rest of the raid in a timely manner, why are you complaining?
    6. yes > i raid heroics > i am 8/8 > i want a sense of accomplishment because i feel the raid is too easy > you can turn the buff off if you are looking for a challenge, why are you complaining?
    7. yes > i raid heroics > i am 8/8 > i just want to burn through the bosses and get out > this will make that easier, why are you complaining?

nowhere in this list does it say "if you kill something after the nerf, you're bad". the entire point of this flowchart is to say "no one has a reason to complain because every single possible outcome benefits from the nerf and if you hate the nerf that much, you can turn it off."

people QQ too damn much about EVERYTHING in wow and people need to shut the fuck up. THAT is the point being made here. you taking it personally and being butthurt is just silly.

yes > i raid heroics > i am 8/8 > i want a sense of accomplishment because i feel the raid is too easy > you can turn the buff off if you are looking for a challenge, why are you complaining?

That's the one I take issue with. That's just not a realistic expectation. No butthurt whatsoever, I'm just tired of seeing this argument being made by people who have no idea what they're actually asking guilds to do.

I love how you make the jump of not being able to clear the content straight to all of a sudden it being so easy you can just walk through and act like it's nothing. Like the flowchart said, if you hadn't killed it before the nerf, you needed the nerf. Simple as that. If for some reason you think it's stupid and you want to kill unnerfed content, turn it off.

I'm not even talking about whether the nerfs should have been there or not. I'm just pointing out how "just turn it off" is a non-argument.

As the image points out, if you are not 8/8 you are not in a position to complain.

    I am 8/8

I hear people say that, and that has got to be some of the stupidest mentality I've ever heard as to why they shouldn't add the buff.

Why not complain about class buffs, and flasks, and other stuff in the game that makes you more powerful than just your baseline skills as well? Complaining about using something you have the option to not use is just idiotic.

So I'm given the option of:

    a) Turn off the debuff and have a tougher challenge, but risk having my guild drop lower and lower in progression rankings

    or

    b) Leave the debuff on, and just sort of walk through the content

I'd hope you can see why I'm not particularly excited about either option. And if you're still not convinced that people care about their ranking outside of the top 100 (they do), consider this: I have to be able to recruit people in order for my raid to continue. Is anyone going to look at the guild that's been stuck on Spine for 3 months? Not likely.

    Any guild that wasn't already 8/8 wasn't really progression-focused.

Believe it or not, you can care about your progression without being a top 100 guild.

thats not what this is about. I think you missed the point entirely. No one should complain about the nerfs since you can just turn them off. If you say its too easy already then you better have 8/8 heroic to back it up. How is this agressive and elitist? its just telling the people who whine all the time to shut the hell up and enjoy the game.

"Just turn them off" is not an appropriate answer for a progression-focused guild, sorry. No one who takes their progression seriously is going to willfully put themselves at a disadvantage. It's like saying "just don't use flasks" or "only bring 20 people."
