Hi everyone! Idk if there's another thread for this and because I couldnt find it, I will ask this anyways. Does standard packs have duplicate protection? because some people are telling me there is indeed, but when stormwind came out I opened 20 standard packs and the cards that came in the packs were from the previous sets, and yes, at the time I already had all the collection from standard past stormind.

Opened up the shop, saw two bundles. One 20 stormwind packs + 2 legendaries and the other the same but for wild packs.
Thought about it for a while. Played some games, then came back and poof, they were gone.
Like is this seriously a bug, or has team5 finally reached its slot limit in the shop, what with multiple offers from 3 different games.
Anyone encountered this? Or has quest mage finally made hearthstone hazardous to my health?

Before I reactivated my premium membership via twitch prime I noticed that my account drop down was partially hidden behind the site navigation banner (HS Collection and Runeterra Collection were blocked by the Shop link).
Once premium was activated again it was no longer an issue.
This was on Google Chrome with a Just Black theme in case that is relevant.

for starters I choose : Guff/Thrall/Bru’kan
Thrall is your carry here and Guff tanks for him while Bru’kan disrupt. This team is very sensitive to fighters but again I don’t think will see many starters including more than one fighter.
On the bench we have malfurion, Brightwing for nature combos and kingKrush as a finisher
Samuro or illidan could work as well but KingKrush seems superior andTirion would be my second pick .

the starters are Millhouse/Tyrande/Cairne
thé goal is to reduce the cost of Millhouse seconde ability and let it cast twice with Tyrande help. Cairne is here for Cooldown and survival. This will kill protectors and probably casters too
on the bench we have Diablo for apocalypse, Lich king to tank and blink fox for the arcane damage but also CD and ability thieving.
the combo Tyrande/Millhouse will see a lot of play the first month because they are starting characters and very obvious burst.

This is the line up I would go with to punish Arcane/Freeze/Orc compositions
The goal is to nuke the enemy fighters like Tyrande/diablo(combo break) Samuro, Rokara, and illidan. No mention this will destroy Thrall comp’ as he will die turn 2.
For this we start with Antonidas/Geddon/diablo and we go turn two for AoE flame strike boosted by Diablo. With this set up their protector(s) will die and the character of your choice preferably a fighter who deal double damage to your casters. The casting time reduction of Geddon is the key. Otherwise either antonidas or Diablo will die first.
On the bench we have Cairne for CD and taunt Ragnaros for the equipment giving 20Pvp if it works on all party. And alextrasza who can be replace by any high speed and damage output fighter as you team burst mainly protectors.
This team might struggle against nature builds, super healing builds and fighters builds very unlikely.
Let me know what you think, if you have a better combo to pull of.

Here is an idea I had that can be fun to do if you like a lot of decks but many of them aren't viable in ranked. Take a group of decks according to some theme, a number divisible by 2, so something like 8, 16, 32, or even 64 would work well. Try to not have any deck with overly high power compared to the rest of them, so the result is unpredictable. Then make a tournament bracket (good site I found to do it easily is https://challonge.com/tournament/bracket_generator but can just do it on paper too).
Finally, you can do it with ingame hs friends where for each deck matchup you would do a friend challenge (they can borrow your decks if only one person has them) and play 3 games. You can switch the person playing each deck once too. The deck that wins best out of 3 (or you can set it up to be best out of 1, out of 5, whatever you prefer) moves on to the next round.
You can keep doing this until you get the final winner. For me this type of thing is very enjoyable (the suspense of which deck will move on to the next round and being able to play a huge variety of decks against others of a similar power level and not worry so much about the meta) but I only had the idea to do it yesterday, so I wanted to share the general idea in case anyone wants to try.
Here is an example bracket for the first tournament I'm doing (theme is off meta ones, specifically ones on the weaker side of things and/or very rarely seen).

After that I'm planning to do a tournament of 32 reno decks from all different classes for some kind of ultimate reno deck showdown.
Overall, lots of options and you can set it up however you want. Maybe do a tournament of decks from just one class or using only cards from certain expansions, many possibilities.

for the leveling up, I will concentrate on Lich king, Cairne, Xyrella, Millhouse, blinkfox, breathwing, Tirion, Tyrande, Samuro et Diablo/Sylvanas/Illidan if I have the chance to open them.

So its no secret that Legends of Runterra only received 15,000 views on its worlds tournament on twitch.
By Riot standards this is an exceptionally low viewer count.
And it has a lot to do with the way Legends plays as a spectator game as of right now.
It prioritizes efficiency, go wide strategies, infinite value engines, all of which aren't particularly interesting to watch.
Meanwhile the "cool" cards ie mono shurima, champions with interesting level up mechanics/quests are generally relegated to meme territory.
This is the one area where hearthstone and and magic when at its best is infinitely more interesting to watch.
Whether it be old school quest warrior, or a magic player going off with some insane combo these things were actually viable competitively.
It wasn't just play a thing that tutors for another thing, do it again, play poppy swing. Or play a thing, tutor for darkness do it again, play Senna.
It really is just watching paint dry in most respects.
So the big advice for the devs make the cool stuff playable, and competitive, this will up the presentation value of your tournaments and make them more exciting to watch.

It seems Trump got his hands on an early access account so he could demonstrate the early stages of Mercenaries to the benighted masses eager fans. And OH BOY are the haters getting shut down bit by bit as new information trickles out.
As I predicted, they had to allow new players to build a village without having a huge pile of gold saved up; otherwise, you just wouldn't be able to play. That's exactly how it works -- all the basic buildings are free. That's right -- FREE. No need to tap into your precious gold reserves and cannibalize your Hearthstone card pack fund, you stupid overreacting babies precious darlings.
You get enough coins to upgrade some abilities before you even finish the tutorial. You also get some packs from bonus quests just for doing the first few bounties (which are extremely fast and easy), so all starting players will be well on their way to a nice robust collection.
I'm sure haters are still gonna hate (because reasons), but those reasons just aren't going to hold any water anymore.

We got some valuable information today about various aspects of Mercenaries, so I'm wondering what new thoughts are swirling out there.
Stuff that matters to me personally:
As someone who enjoys unlocking and collecting things, it seems like the game will be a lot of fun if I never buy a single pack with cash. The packs from quests will be more than enough to collect a ton of Mercs, and every Merc you pull from a pack will unlock more quests. This cycle breaks down once you've got all the rares and epics, so maybe you end up grinding coins for some legendaries at the end, but that doesn't seem so bad to me.

Zoe Nami and Draven War are 20% of the meta.
You can expect to run into one of these decks one out of 5 games.
Darkness control and Temo traps are about 15% of the meta. You can expect to run into one of these decks on average 6.5 games.
Shurima landmarks, and TF Gangplank burn are 10% of the meta. You'll find then one out of 10 games.
Everything else we see a pretty big drop of in play rate of 4% or less.
So what do we think, how are we enjoying the meta now that you can realistically know what decks you'll run into 50% of the time?

Despite what I'm about to say, I am still excited for Mercenaries. I think it will be fun and have a fair amount of depth to its Pokemon-esque collecting, leveling, and battling systems. With that in mind...where the fuck is Blizzard?
This is not a normal card reveal-season where one can just disappear for three weeks without a word: it's a brand new game, and there exists a very vocal subset of the player-base which is upset. The reveal stream was a whirlwind of information, and left a bad first impression for some. PC Gamer called it "a masterclass in how not to announce a game." Blizzard needs to do right be these people and provide more details: an AMA, play-time with a streamer, another blog; something to help rebuild the lost hype. I want Mercenaries to be my go-to Hearthstone game in the future, but as the days go by in silence my concern that it will be dead-on-arrival continues to grow.
Don't let me down, Team 5: you and I both need this win, and right now you're blowing it.

Nami: Do you guys remember the +1/+1 that The Veiled Temple used to give? The one that was considered too strong and had to be nerfed. Imagine a better version of that effect on a champions that has one of the easiest level up requirement in the game. Nami always level by round 4 and when she do. You only need to spam burst speed spells to turn your board of tiny elusives into game ending terrors. Since these burst spells also offer protection to your units. Trying to use removal on them ends up being a lost cause. Speaking of elusive...
Sparklefly: During the beta one of the most powerful elusive cards was Kinkou Lifeblade a 4 mana 2/3 with lifesteal. That was deemed to strong and was eventual nerfed to 2/2. So you can imagine the community's surprise when an even better version of that card was released. This card can be tutored with Crescendum and is very hard to get ride off due to all the protection and buffs available for Targon.
Aloof Travelers: This card allow you to discard your opponent win condition, draws you a card and give a decent body for a cheap price, The effect being on summon means there is nothing you can do to stop it. Definitely overturned.
Hidden Pathways: Bandle City has so much card generation that it's pretty much impossible not to fulfill this card condition and contrary to Deep Meditation the discount you get is permanent.
Otterpus: Pranks are for most part manageable except for the grant your +2 cost which can cripple your opponent hand and this little fellow allow you to do that for free.
Lost Soul: An infinite value engine, discard lost soul play a Twinblade Revenant, trade into one your opponent key unit's rinse and repeat, I have won many matches just by out grinding my opponent with this card. It doesn't help that, with 4 power twinblade can kill 90% of meta relevant unit's.
Sharpsight: I really didn't wan't to include this one because it's a the best elusive counter in the game, but if we are being honest this card is too good, protect your unit's, trade efficiently, push for damage all for a cheap price. Most people who use this card tend to forget about the the block elusive part. If you play a Demacia deck, any Demacia deck you run 3 Sharpsight no question asked.

This challenge will begin today, September 10th, and will end on September 30th. During this window of time, you'll have to start a Duels run with a starting deck containing at least 1 card from each mana cost, from 0 to 10 mana. Moreover, in order to make things a little easier, Signature Treasures will count as well!
Everyone who'll post proof of a 7+ wins run in this article's comment section will be awarded with a different amount of gold, an in-site currency you'll be able to earn from different activities and that will be used to purchase cosmetics in our in-site shop.
In order for your run to count towards the challenge, you'll have to provide an appropriate proof of your feat; otherwise, your result won't count. To be precise, you will have to reply to this forum thread including:
Remember that we have to make sure you actually played following the rules, so please help us in doing so - disqualifying players feels bad, and we'd want to avoid it if possible!
Here's a quick breakdown explaining the rewards you'll receive based on your performances:
