Just for everyone who is interested, I did some science:

Playing Zul'jin after completing Defend the Dwarven District questline and dropping the reward leads to the following effects:

>Zuljin's Hero Power WILL NOT keep the [It costs (0)]-Buff
-> However, Zuljin will recast the quest after which it can progress/complete from Zuljin's re-casts of damage-dealing spells and regain the [It costs (0)] buff
>Zuljin's Hero Power WILL refresh after a spell is played by you, no matter if the quest reward is played again or not.

This means that any other change to the Hunter Hero Power after the upgrades, it will loose its cost reduction (and minion-targeting-ability, if at all applicable) but refresh when a spell is played. There is of course the option to wait until one plays for example Deathstalker Rexxar before completing the second step of the questline to create a zombeast factory...

But yeah, that's all folks! THought it would be an interesting little tidbit!

Hi everyone. This might be a dumb question, I don't know, but I was trying out Shadow Priest and considered adding the quest to the deck, just for fun and to try it out. To my surprise (?) the quest is considered as a spell and the Start of Game from Benedictus doesn't activate... I guess my question is, why is a quest considered a spell?

Something else I noticed, cost reduction doesn't work to activate the steps in the quest. I played a 10 cost card reduced to 8, and it didn't count towards the completion of the quest. Would've thought it should.

Anyways, wanted to know your opinion on this. 

Is it too early to already want a separate, no-quest ladder? I can't believe how fast I have come to hate this expansion, due to every single game I play involving a quest, and the fact that these quests essentially complete themselves with plain draw RNG. All you do is watch your warrior/hunter/warlock/mage opponent throw their crap down every turn, and hope your bullshit RNG is better than their bullshit RNG, and that's the game. This is, to me, going to be the least interactive, least interesting meta that has ever existed in this game, and I'm already getting sick of it, and I actually feel ashamed when I play that stupid pirate warrior. Please give me hope that the team will step in quickly and make some of these slightly more challenging to complete.

So I cracked all my new United in Stormwind packs that I was able to amass from the gold I've been saving over the past month and crafted a few of the decks for the quests and I gotta say this... Hunter and Warrior are not only ridiculously easy to do, but probably NEED to be nerfed.

I took the garden variety Dwarven Defense deck for Hunter with no changes and just ROFL stomped every single player I came across.  This works even more viciously in Wild with Baku.  I was able to accomplish it as soon as turn 6 and just destroy my opponent. 

The Warrior quest was nearly almost as easy to complete.  Once The Juggernaut hits the board, it's kinda GG for your opponent.  I didn't even try to make a competitive deck, I just threw in some Pirates and Coerce into a deck and destroyed my opponents.  

I've tried the Druid quest and it was lack luster to say the least but that was expected in the card reveal.  I got 2-4 of the other quests that I need to try as well, but honestly, I was shocked at how easy it was to just beat your opponent with the quest rewards of those two so far, so even though the Hunter quest is the ONE thing that has got me liking that class finally after the passed 7 years of playing this game, it really needs to be nerfed as it is waaaaaaaaaaaay too easy to complete.  Thoughts on this and your experiences so far?

I'm sure this all falls within statistical norms, but lowrolling Legendaries sucks (one was literally the 40th pack after the previous one). A ~10% decrease on average dust value is a bummer. Plus only one legendary (Raid the Docks) was on my wishlist.

I'm going to get the rewards track packs and use gold on new ones until I hit my next legendary (it's been 30 packs since the last, so it'll be quickish) and then start saving up for the next expansion.

I'm making this thread a liiiiiittle early because I want to help people take advantage of what may well be a time-limited opportunity: completing the Rogue and Priest questline-related achievements without owning the required cards. The only alternate way to complete these achievements is to steal the questline rewards from an opposing player, and the Day 1 meta presents a great opportunity for this, as people will be playing unoptimized meme decks and trying out their fancy new cards. It could happen that these questline decks are unviable and almost impossible to find on ladder afterwards, and this is pretty hard to pull off. There are other questline-related achievements, but these two are the only ones that require a one-time event and are therefore viable for these purposes. So how is this done?

Instant Gratification: Draw the Purified Shard the same turn you shuffle it into your deck.

The simplest way to do this is by waiting until they play the questline reward, then on your turn playing Mindrender Illucia + Lorekeeper Polkelt + Prize Vendor or any 'draw a card' effect like a Loot Hoarder or Bloodmage Thalnos deathrattle. Note that tutor effects of any kind ignore deck order, although they do not change Polkelt's ordering of the deck. This will of course only work if your opponent doesn't draw the shard the same turn they play their questline reward. Example deck: AAECAa0GBPvRA/bWA6iKBJegBA3LzQP73wOS5AOhoASY6gP44wPBnwSFnwS24QPXzgOZ6wPo7wPWoAQA

Okay, but what if I don't own Mindrender Illucia? I don't have her either, unfortunately. It's still possible, although it gets a lot messier, with Rogue. The main thrust of the combo will always be Faceless Manipulator + Shadowstep + play questline reward for 3 mana. From there, you need to have played Potion of Illusion on either a Lorekeeper Polkelt or a Primordial Protector so that you can play it for 1 mana here. The nice thing is that both of these cards help you draw the Potion of Illusion from your deck. If you went the Polkelt route, you also need a draw effect that same turn, which can be set up in advance by Silverleaf Poison but can be included in that same turn via discount or coin generation effects with Prize Vendor. Also, if you're lucky, you can steal the reward through Plagiarize. Example deck: AAECAYO6AgTl0QP21gOoigTl0QMN5dMDkuQDmOoDqesDq+sD3uwD9p8E958EoaAErKAE6/YDtuEDitADAA==

Expecting an Exploding Pen?: Play every Spy Gizmo in one game.

This is also done with Rogue. The good thing is you don't need to force the shard draw like in the Priest achievement, but you do need to play 5 1-mana cards, and ideally speaking you want to do this the very same turn you steal the reward, to ensure consistency. The same Faceless Manipulator + Shadowstep + play questline reward for 3 mana base combo remains, however to play all 5 Spy Gizmos you need 13 mana in one turn. Options include: Backstabing an Efficient Octo-bot, aka the dream scenario. Generating enough coins through Loan Shark and Tomb Pillager. Discounting the spell-based Spy Gizmos with Preparation. Having the reward through Plagiarize so you don't need extra mana in the first place. Generally speaking, some combination of these options should get you through. You should note though, that you need the hand space when you play the questline reward. And also that the opponent is likely to play the stealth-giving Spy Gizmo on their questline reward the turn they play it, so you should plan to weather that 9/7. Example deck: AAECAYO6AgKoigSXoAQOzrkDx84D5dMD590DkuQDmOoDq+sDkZ8E9p8E958EoaAErKAE6qAE6/YDAA==

Hi everyone. The past few months I played 0 Hearthstone. Let's say that after 4 years I was growing tired, then DH came out, I started enjoy the game less and less. Still purchased the last 2 expansions, but the last one I didn't play AT ALL. I don't earn the monthly card back since 3 months. I just stopped enjoying the game and becoming more and more bored (I think it's normal, considering it represented my daily routine in the past 4 years).

I recently re-discovered an old passion of my childhood: LEGO ! Started with some LEGO Ideas set, continued with the Colosseum, the I did the big step: I started my own MOC (My own creation). Particularly, one I was pretty fond of: Scrooge McDuck's Money bin.
For those who don't know, Scrooge McDuck is Donald Duck's stingy uncle, richest duck in the world, who lives in a giant cube (the money bin) containing 3 cubic acres of coins. DuckTales and comics with Scrooge McDuck represent a huge part of my childhood, and I had plenty of fun recreating them LEGO version.

what is a standard pack (new Reward Track) ?

TLDR: Nightmare Amalgam might spoil some minion types incoming!

When searching for "egg" for a DR hunter I noticed that Nightmare Amalgam showed up on the list - which surprised me!

I doublechecked the spelling and the flavour text but couldn't find any hits for "egg" in the card or its description. I assumed that the only way the card would show up would've been that the "ALL" minion type includes more types than are currently present in the game...

And lo and behold, Nightmare Amalgam also shows up when searching some very interesting keywords:

• Orc
• Egg

• tbc ...

Interestingly enough it does NOT show up for these keyword:

• Treant
• Tauren

Hi guys, 

Planning to buy the tavern pass and buying around 60 packs for gold. 
Now I‘m thinking about todays weekly quests: 

- finish them before go live to benefit of the current xp bonus from barrens tavern pass (and then buy more packs for gold)

- finish them after go live so I get early progress on stormwind tavern pass

Is there a difference or is it just get more gold today vs more gold later (because of the faster progress in stormwind)?

Welcome to the modern thread of The Card Treasure Hunt. This is a game where you try to guess which Hearthstone card fits the current riddle. If you have seen this thread and have always wanted to play I invite you to try- it's a fun distraction to check your phone and look the riddle over. Think it through while you're doing something boring like work or waiting in line : D

There are not many rules aside from not making too many guesses at a time (two at a time is the polite limit). Asking questions to the riddle is advisable if stumped. If it is your turn to make a riddle it is asked that you check in at least a couple times a day to verify guesses; if you are not able to you are allowed to concede the next riddle to the public.

Besides the leader board below, I also compile the winners of every month. Think of it as Standard for the game. Stick around and try to be the winner for the month!

Unexpected behaviour

Hello, I was building a deck earlier today and when I went to save the deck I had this message :

You have too many cards in your deck.

Please remove cards to save your deck.

The deck actually had 30 cards and the selected Game Mode was Standard (not Duels where the limit is 15).

Possible cause

It turns out that I had played around with the Game Mode selection and at some point selected Duels, which sets the card limit to 15. After reverting to Standard, the deckbuilder seems to keep the 15 cards limit in memory. I tried switching Game Mode to Duels then back to Standard but the problem persisted. I could save my deck after reloading the page.

When I first experienced the bug, the card count at the top showed 30/15. However, when I tried to reproduce the problem, it showed 30/30 (but I was still unable to save the deck because of the same message). Then I tried to reproduce the bug again... and couldn't. So I'm not sure what actually caused it.

Steps to reproduce (not guaranteed)

• Change the Game Mode several time during deck building
• Add and remove cards from the deck
• At some point, have too many cards in the deck
• Click on the Duels specific sections (Heroes, Treasures) -> note that those stayed there even when I had switched back to Standard Game Mode.

Those are things I did during my deck building.

Severity

Probably low. It could be frustrating for people trying the deckbuilder, playing around and not noticing the card list is in the address bar.

I'm starting this game again. Historically I played it mostly at beginning. Got a couple of (newb?) questions :

- Zoe evolution condition states that she must see you playing 10 cards with different names for her to evolve. I know that for couting she must be on board. What I'm wondering is does the counter is saved if she dies and you play another ? Or do you start all over? Should it be the later, she looks... slightly impossible to evolve...

- When you buy a card skin, you're offered a free copy of the champion. But if you craft a regular copy, does it show with the skin or you must buy the skin again ?

- What do you think is the shortest/most consistent way to get Legendary Jokers ?

I've got a now probably outdated Jinx/Draven Discard aggro, which is my serious, quest grinding deck. Now what I'll be aiming is playing dank meme decks, because I like whacky conditions. What I've been thinking to build (for the lulz, not for the winrate lol) :

- Any EDH deck (one copy only of each card)

- A deck with 3 copy of Zoe cuz I love the mechanics behind the card even if she looks... erh

- A landmark deck (coming from Shadowverse and I loved countdown amulets)

- A heavily RNG based deck (much like Hearthstone Tess Rogue) when I want to shut down teh brain.

You don't see something as gloriously weird as Maestra of the Masquerade without at least trying to make practical use of it beyond just bamboozling the opponent at the start of the game. The dream is to somehow exploit it with Tess Greymane, but that has problems with not being able to run anything other than rogue and neutral cards, so you'll quickly return to a normal burgle rogue except for being able to get a couple of extra cards from Maestra's pretend class with things like Wandmaker. 

That's fine, but not exciting.

Then it hit me. The most glorious little unused meme card that turns our hopes for a meme into reality. Behold, Wyrmrest Purifier!

Originally intended for Pure Paladin, now used to make a genuine, bona fide dual-class deck. No need to waste time generating cards, just transform all your neutrals at the start! And if you don't draw the purifier early, no worries because you can make a fully competent deck that just happens to run Maestra, Tess and 2x Purifier.

Will it be good? No. But is it the sort of thing that I keep playing HS for? Absolutely!

With the new expansion drawing closer and all the cards revealed, what do you guys think are the best cards from UiS, or ones that will see lots of play? What are the sleepers and potentially broken cards of the set? I'll start: 

Defend the Dwarven District - Even before seeing this in play in the theorycrafting streams, people were already predicting this to be really strong, and it is. Very easy to complete too; opponents are gonna have to race it down or tank up in order to avoid the inevitable.

Entitled Customer - Just a ridiculous board clear. Any Control Warlock deck in standard and wild will definitely run this. 

Alliance Bannerman - This is a card that will boost handbuff decks. You draw a minion, buff all minions in your hand, and you stick a 2/2 body on board. 

Voidtouched Attendant - If Shadow Priest becomes a thing, this 1-drop with premium stats will enable some OTKs. 

Battleground Battlemaster - A scary card that will be run in board-centric decks. 

Overdraft - Can unlock some burst damage for Shaman, especially in Wild. 

Bolner Hammerbeak - Nerf candidate, has the potential to terrorize Wild. This could enable some OTKs. 

Fun cards that I don't think will be competitive:

Raid the Docks - I love the flavor of this questline, but I'm not sure what kind of deck you can build around this. Maybe a control deck? Either way, I'm still crafting this for fun as a Warrior main. 

The Demon Seed - I watched Regis play this, and it looks incredibly fun. Balancing between life and death all game, then ultimately killing your opponent in fatigue just looks so satisfying. That said, this probably won't stand a chance against aggro decks. 

So, I've cleared the new lab with Miss Fortune and Tahm Kench. I'm in the middle of a run with Twisted Fate.

So far, I think it's a lot of fun and fairly complex. There is a lot of player agency in deciding how to approach the lab as well, and a much wider variety to the encounters.

My tips would be: for the first few clears, don't really worry about your badges for the end of the run. Focus on maximizing your equipments and powers, because Gangplank is HARD to beat. VERY hard.

In my first run, I defeated him in one try, thanks to having Evolution and some absurdly overpowered units.

In my second run, despite having 6 really good powers, including Yipp's Genius, and having Zoe in the deck, I still died once on Gangplank before I defeated him. He's insanely strong. A much more fitting end boss than Viktor for sure.

Edit - After playing a few more times, I can say for sure that getting 6 powers is not normal. There isn't even a guarantee that you'll get an epic power at all, though you WILL get a random epic power offered if you spawn the Smooth Soloist '!' node. In any case, I've cleared all three champs, with TF being the hardest for me to finish. S-tier skill and wealth on both MF and Tahm Kench. I'll be going for speed badges last.

Just quickly pointing out that Noggen-Fog Generator gives a minion full stealth, not just for 1 turn, making it the only option in the game to give any minion quasi-permanent stealth since Master of Disguise got nerfed.

Most of the time that isn't super important, and it almost certainly won't ever be meta-relevant, but it does open a lot of doors for meme rogue players. Basically any card with a useful 'end of turn' effect, or one that triggers whenever X happens, would love permanent stealth. Shadowjeweler Hanar is an obvious choice to annoy the hell out of your opponents in Standard, while Wild has everything from Sonya Shadowdancer and Spirit of the Shark up to Troggzor the Earthinator and Mayor Noggenfogger* himself.

* You might need a bit of luck to actually hit him though :P

Deckbuilding is limited a bit by needing a bunch of SI:7 cards to reach Spymaster Scabbs and guarantee a Noggen-Fog Generator, but they at least provide a functional starting point for the deck, so that's OK.

That's all I had to say really. It got my creative juices flowing, so maybe it'll do the same for someone else too.

Is there any information about the usual firesite gathering this weekend? Usually you can set up an event Friday-Sunday before the expansion comes out, will it with this time?

Can someone confirm if this is happening to them too? Whenever I try to play it pops up the prompt to pay money or gold or exit except it doesn't make it fully to the screen. It stays blurred in the background. All I can do is exit. 

I've noticed that some non-article things are shown on the main page, but not on the game specific sub-page. The Stormwind Launch Countdown aswell as the "81 Card revealed" and "Dreamhack Beyond" Banners are some current examples of this.

I would appreciate it if you could also add these und future things to the /hearthstone page since that's the page I actually bookmarked.

Does anyone know how those two will Interact?

Could i put C'thun in my deck and still enter Shadowform with Benedictus at the start of the game? Because if C'thun happens before him not all my spells are Shadow Anymore and therefor he will not grant me Shadowform right?

Which one proccs first?

I could not find It Reported anywhere else so I thought about making a post about It.

So I was checking my Barranca achivements (as I just finished one) and noticed some of them still had Chest around them. It seems like all Golden Cards given through the battlepass can be obtained vía achivements since last patch.

Even Golden Shadowhunter Voljin is invluded

These requieres owning the original Card, But I feel this is great for the long term! 

This rewards are still undustable. Will try to finish one of them to get a duplicate and see what happens.

It seems that Diamond Samuro Will still be a tavern pass exclusive though.
