A 1998 Classic

The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time is an absolute masterpiece. The game, like Super Mario 64, built the playbooks used when creating 3D games back in the 90s and here in the 2020s. The gameplay holds up all these years later with its z-targeting and monster intelligence innovations which made taking on an entire room of monsters feel epic without combat being overwhelming. The dungeons were filled with great puzzles, pushing a specific use of a new item in each one to teach us how to use it effectively during gameplay, and boss fights were all short but epic. The iconic Ocarina providing teleports later in the game and great interactivity elsewhere, is a cornerstone of the world-building present in Ocarina of Time, which lead to incredible tunes stuck in everyone's heads decades later. The musical score? A master class as always. Zelda games, no, Nintendo first-party games have always featured an iconic soundtrack and this game is no different. Replaying the game invokes a wave of memories of playing the game as a youngin' thanks to the music. The golden skulltula collectibles make for an exciting journey across the world, finding them each in both easy and hard to reach places which further adds to the feeling of a world filled with things to do. The masks questline? Another fun way to run around the world solving puzzles outside of dungeons.
