Hopefully someone out there has even better ideas for additions to the secret rogue deck. I’ve really enjoyed workshopping it and don’t want to put it down even as a new expansion launches.
I think it’s some combination of: I love Wild and play the mode 95% of my time in constructed, I am nostalgic for Altruis the Outcast despite him probably not being optimal for this deck, and I have gotten a lot of mileage out of Consume Magic. Plus, Demon Hunter is so weak and underrepresented in Wild that I want to do my part and get those numbers a little bit higher.
In addition, I typically do not care very much about ladder/rank so I don’t worry too much about power levels and matchups because I’m playing for fun rather than grinding up. I have a list I run in Standard when I decide to make the jump but I am first and foremost a Wild player. It’s where my heart is.
Edit: Plus plus, this is going to be much more Wild of a deck after the upcoming rotation, so I’m just getting ahead of the times and learning the deck early!

Thank you! It’s funny how enjoyable writing a guide is when you really like the deck you’re playing. Even though I’m not done all of my previous guides, the last few decks I’ve been able to post have just been so enjoyable to test out even through the losses.
Thank you once again for the spotlight! It’s been a lot of fun getting into deck building and trying to make “bad” cards work. I’m contemplating subbing in Rat Pack for Desert Spear in the quest Hunter deck but don’t own the rats yet. If anyone out there likes the deck and could try the change, let me know how it feels!
Also amazing value towards either of the old quest decks for hunter as well. Throw down your 1 drops/minions in general and get them back to hand for replaying along with some free removal thrown in.

Quick update as I write out the guide over the course of today-the original idea of Living Seed was replaced by Capture Coldtooth Mine at the suggestion of Swizard and it has worked far more consistently as a deck overall. You may want to update the article to reflect that since the deck list does not include it any longer…or not! But thank you for the mention regardless.
I second the comments above, please keep this series going! I love reading the deck analysis and game plans and feel like it helps me be a better player. There’s still plenty of Wild players out there trying to be creative and try out ridiculous things
Thank you for the highlight! Unlike previous decks I’ve been working on, this questline birb one has hit it’s more or less refined state for what I’m trying to do. I did change out Cornelius for a Psychopomp to help out the 4 drop spot a little bit more. I’m still not sure which I like better but it is nice to have a win condition baked into a bird priest deck for once other than stealing everything back and transforming it. Even in the event that the questline reward gets hit by Dirty Rat, I’ve still usually been able to win through either the Xyrella hero power or the waves of resurrections wearing the opponent down. It’s been a very fun deck so far and I’m proud of it
Having a lot of fun with it in Wild in a bird priest shell. Xyrella, the Devout is a perfect 8-drop for this questline in a deathrattle deck, as it can provide you will burst healing, board clears and resources to help get you across the finish line and play the shard-or act as a secondary win con on her own through hero powers.
I didn’t know Swizard was leaving! We were exchanging ideas in game recently and he was always a fun talking partner while trying to come up with something dumb and new. Thank you for keeping the series going however, for those of us who just want to have some dumb fun in this game.
I’m rather excited for some more Beast Druid support. It’s one of those archetypes as you said that has always-kind-of-barely-been-there-but-not-really, and now there are some slightly more interesting tools for them to play around with. Plus, I have a golden Shan’do I’ve been waiting to use in something other than my Knuckles Hunter deck.
Thanks for the mention again! The Mecha’thun DH was a stupid idea inspired by the old MarkMcKz video from about a year or more ago. I very painfully DONT have Mecha’thun yet, so I haven’t been able to do any playtesting. I was going to craft it but too many of the Alterac cards look like fun so I’m holding off for a couple of weeks. I don’t expect it to be good but like you said, I’m hoping the combo is unexpected enough that it could work irregularly for some fun.

Love Big Demon DH, getting 4 copies of [Hearthstone Card (Taintheart Tormentor) Not Found] against something like a Priest is tons of evil fun.

First hero I pulled this expansion and I have been having the most fun with her so far. She is bonkers in bird and bird/questline priest!
