Dean is saying wild is meant to be broken in order for players to be able to play their old decks, not act as a standard mode with more cards where they'd prioritize balance.
Yeah but as other users have pointed out, that argument makes no sense.
I can't enjoy even paladin in wild because I'll get shafted non-stop by the three main culprits: darkglare, secret and razakus.
Additionally, he himself has said that their data showed that big priest was played by the same players, even after they nerfed Barnes. Which further advocates nerfing the top dogs because the people who actually enjoy playing secret mage (if those exist) would then still play it after it's nerfed.
Nowadays, they try to nerf cards in a way that doesn't make a whole deck feel worthless.
I still cannot forgive them what they did with Mecha'thun Warlock in Wild after nerfing Bloodbloom
Ehh, I wouldn't really call that an apt comparison. On one hand because Bloodbloom got nerfed because of the ridiculously stupid combo with Darkest Hour, Mecha'thun warlock was just unfortunate to get caught in the crossfire. On the other hand because Mecha'thun warlock as an archetype isn't dead, it has a different combo with Dollmaster Dorian that doesn't require all that much more setup. The reason why the deck is borderline unplayable is because the meta in wild has sped up with a ridiculous pace, and the deck cannot keep up.
I was talking about the Warlock lists in Standard. Raise Dead will be around for some time and if my suggestion for a nerf was implemented, Warlock needs tools to compensate the increased damage. Wild is another thing, but maybe 2 more damage could help to keep Darkglare Warlock in check.
That'll do quite the opposite as it'll make them have their Molten giants come out even faster.
I'm 14-2 against them with reno priest. But as the report mentions I don't know how many of those secret mages were running Occult Conjurer, I don't remember seeing the card a lot. So my high winrate might be due to them running suboptimal builds.
Needless to say the deck is extremely boring to play (against). And considering half of the games I play I face the deck, I've switched back to standard-only for now.
Reno priest being tier 2 in the report is silly to me, though. The deck still chokes out so many otherwise viable decks it's ridiculous.
And lastly the contrast between top legend players and the report is also worth mentioning. From what I see and hear, top legend is nothing but darkglare warlock mirrors and decks trying to counter it. Seems like it's oppressively strong, even more so than secret mage perhaps, but extremely difficult to play optimally.
Looking at it long-term, the only real way to fix big priest is to add some proper graveyard mechanic to the game. Which, in all fairness, will likely never happen.
The resurrect mechanic is just too easy to exploit and big priest has become this cockroach of an archetype that'll just pop up out of nowhere whenever it gets support. Ready to do the exact same thing it's been doing for the past however many years now. Whether you nerf a few of its cards or not.
Also, your suggestion will kill any and all forms of competitive viability Anduin has, and will ever have. The literal only upside to your proposal is that Rexxar will finally have a friend all the way down at wild's dumpster tier.
Imagine doing card nerfs with such lingering hate.. some decks u talked about are of course problematic but nerfing so much and so hard is admirable but mistaken
3 weeks from now would be far, far too late. The standard meta is already a 2 decks vs the rest kinda thing for 2 weeks now and that's not gonna change unless team 5 steps in.
For standard: Rogue and shaman are by far the biggest threats and need to be adjusted. After that they should probably look at preemptively correcting bomb warrior and maybe paladin/warlock too.
Wild: just save us from the secret mage/reno priest/darkglare warlock trinity, please.
Revert the Raza and Molten giant changes, and butcher all the wild-only secret mage cards for all I care.
Did you quit before or after Bilgewater? Bilgewater champs still see a lot of play, but the ones that came after those aren't really all that necessary. I recommend going to mobalytics or swimstrim's website and checking the decks there. There should still be a good amount of viable decks that only run older champs though.
As FrostyFeet said, Shen/Fiora, Ezreal/Draven and SI aggro are all decks that mostly use older cards, champs especially.
Huge +1 to Avalon's iteration of control priest. That is by far the most fun control deck I have ever played. Mostly because it doesn't play like a traditional where you do little to nothing the first turns and then play a slow spell per turn to keep your opponent at bay. No, this deck seeks to actively fight for the board with its own minions and keep that board under control, all the while chipping at the opponent's hp wherever possible to make it easier for Shadowreaper Anduin to seal the deal.
Unfortunately, I've never found a control deck quite like this one after a huge portion of its cards rotated.
I also have to mention even paladin though (the Corpsetaker build, not the super broken day-1 version). My favorite midrange deck of all time. Something about summoning a dude every single turn and buffing them or playing bigger minions alongside it and, again, fighting for the board, was just super satisfying.
I know you asked for standard specifically, but considering that format's completely plagued with shamans this deck in wild has been seeing quite some success and will probably be up your alley. Basically a big/deathrattle hunter that's clearly legend-viable.
Honestly, I wouldn't mind if they unnerfed all of those cards when they rotate to wild. The majority of them, like the galakrond ones, won't make any gamebreaking decks anyway. Just fun tier 2 decks for wild's standards.
The only ones that are debatable are the birb, but priest can get all the hate it deserves if you ask me, and the demon hunter cards. But these demon hunter cards are only a small portion of what made odd demon hunter as strong as it was so I see no big issue there either.
Let "wild be exactly that: Wild!" for once, Blizzard.
I find the Dinotamer Brann nerf questionable, to say the least. Nerfing Lorekeeper Polkelt should lower highlander hunter's strength enough already. And it's not like the deck was oppressive to begin with...
I'm really happy they're finally nerfing Voracious Reader though. The card was blatantly overtuned and should also lower wild aggro druid's power level by a bit.
This was in platinum, I haven't played standard for a long time, but since I was wild legend consistently probably my mmr would be high for standard as well.
This is false. Your mmr between both formats can differ greatly. What was your star multiplier for standard when you started this month?
I don't understand why the way to nerf Raza priest needs to be a discussion.
When Raza was nerfed the deck was fine. It was still more than serviceable. Only reason you didn't see it much was because it required people to actually think instead of just having the deck play itself like now.
Don´t give up mate! You still got today. You´ve inspired me so I pushed this month too and I´m hovering between D1-D2 two stars. But as you´ve said, if we don´t make it this month, the next is ours :) GL!
Today i'm gonna work :( what deck are you using? Ive never got this far, so this month i climbed platinum all the way without bonus stars So i'm confident with the bonus stars i'll get
I was playing wild - Odd Paladin. Priests are my doom. Sooo close, yet sooo far :/
Reno priest or big priest? Because you should be (slightly favored against the former
Aggro them down with kingsbane/secret mage, out armor them with druid shenanigans, or play combo hate (rat/illucia).
Yeah but as other users have pointed out, that argument makes no sense.

As expected, however disappointing it may be.
Maybe if we ask them often enough (since he said he'd be doing them weekly) we'll eventually get an answer or two.
That'll do quite the opposite as it'll make them have their Molten giants come out even faster.
Not a fan.

Random? These nerfs are long overdue and literally everyone could've seen these coming.
Why is Raza not on your list?

Do tell which nerfs you consider "so hard".

Edit: Oh and no more Lorekeeper Polkelt into Raza the Chained curve anymore either. That's also pretty good. Nice.
This is false. Your mmr between both formats can differ greatly. What was your star multiplier for standard when you started this month?
But then you're supporting Blizzard with your money. Which is the polar opposite of what most people want to do currently.

Revert the raza revert and all should be fine.

If the current trend continues... Control warrior and soul demon hunter.
